Need opinions about food!

So.

I'm trying to organise a 7 deadly sins themed dinner party for my friends this Halloween! There won't necessarily be 7 of us but there will be 7 courses, one for each sin!

I'm trying to gather opinions about what food/meal best embodies each sin. What springs to mind for you? I have some ideas but I need more brains 😂

I've looked up a few menus but most are from restaurants that have a lot of money to spend and I..have less 😆

Give me your thoughts!

Erm I can only think of the Brad Pitt film Seven. Probably not what you have in mind 😱😂

Avarice - creme brûlée with gold leaf on the brûlée
Gluttony - fondue
Pride - sliced white bread (mother's pride) or (DP suggested) lion bar
Lust - maybe a passion fruit thing
Wrath - something spicy eg chilli
Jealousy - something green
Sloth - nibbles on a lazy Susan

PurpleDaisies · 15/09/2020 21:59

Envy...give yourself something lovely and give everyone else a bowl of weetabix.

Sloth...pot noodle

Wrath...undercooked chips

Greed..family sized bar of dairy milk each
Gluttony... family sized bag of crisps each

Lust...something heart shaped

Pride...make something you’re proud of eg nice cake

formerbabe · 15/09/2020 22:03

Lust...oysters
Wrath...hot sauce
Envy...caviar

That's all I got

Boopbobeedo · 15/09/2020 22:08

You could take inspiration from characters who embody these things... Examples below!

pride - Mr Darcy - a pate or something that feels regency.

greed - wolf of wall street - American style fries/ pizza / etc depending on how filling you need this to be?

wrath - Bruce Banner/Hulk - Green soup?!

envy - Black Swan - some sort of main like chicken?

Lust- fifty shades - dramatic red colours like a raspberry coulis

glutony - Augustus Gloop/Bruce Bogtrotter - basically a chocolate dessert!

sloth - Homer Simpson - donuts!

TheSpottedZebra · 15/09/2020 22:37

Wrath could be pasta arrabiata - arrabiata literally means angry

TheSpottedZebra · 15/09/2020 22:37

sloth

LunaNorth · 15/09/2020 22:41

Lust - a massive sausage

LunaNorth · 15/09/2020 22:41

Love the envy/weetabix idea

And arrabiata is inspired.

WinWinnieTheWay · 15/09/2020 22:49

Lust - two round pink Blancmanges with cherries on top. Or two plums and a banana. Depending upon sexuality of the dinner guests.

FawnDrench · 16/09/2020 19:47

Lust- saucily named cocktails eg sex on the beach, long hard screw, between the sheets etc.

Avarice- chocolate gold bar, golden wonder, millionaires shortbread, rich tea, rich anything

Sloth - cake with a picture of a sloth?
There are lots of "lazy" whatever recipes.
Make everyone eat a gob stopper and see who can last the longest or something like that.

Gluttony - competition to eat the most dry cream crackers in one minute or something like that.

Envy - traditionally green, so a variety of green food

Pride - has now become associated with rainbows in its modern meaning so this would be easy to source.
But not really about the sinful meaning you may be after.

Wrath - there are cocktails called the grapes of wrath and Neptune's wrath.
Or something on fire.
Apparently there is a fury cake.

The music list should be fun to sort out too!
