Just registering Pokemon for my child under a site called Niantic.

It’s asking for my credit card, is this normal?

What device are you using? Are you going through the App store or Play store?

Knotaknitter · 15/09/2020 16:17

It's normal, it's because you are registering for a child. Full details are in the help link below - extract at the end

Why do you need my credit card details to verify my account?
We’re required by law to obtain verifiable consent from the child’s parent before we gather any personal information from the child. Because of this, we need to verify your identity so we know you are really you.

Does it depend how you are logging into the game? I can't remember giving card details for ds. We log in using Google accounts so its done through an email address

Yes, I had to do this when registering my child for Pokemon Go using Niantic.

Ok thanks all.
Found a way around it by just registering a later birth year.
