Deliberate lack of tests?

EvaHoffman · 15/09/2020 08:25

It seems clear there is a nationwide lack of tests available at the moment and nobody can say exactly why.

If I were wanting the economy to get running and for people to return to offices I'd try and make sure statistics didn't show the beginnings of a second wave.

Do you think there may be a connection?

Nope.
Just complete incompetence.

Baaaahhhhh · 15/09/2020 08:27

But the statistics do show a second wave.

Baaaahhhhh · 15/09/2020 08:28

Oh, and the reason is lab capacity, not specifically lack of tests.

TooTrueToBeGood · 15/09/2020 08:28

Oh dear, another conspiracy theory in the making. First, the stats already show the clear start of a second wave so that ship has already sailed. Second, look at the bloody government you're accusing. What do you think is more likely given their track record - yet more blundering incompetence or some Machiavellian plot a Bond villain would be proud of?

ChelseeDagger · 15/09/2020 08:29

In fact the lack of tests coincided with the summer when the randox tests were recalled as unsafe.
Testing kits have been much more freely available since the beginning of september.
The MSM rhetoric is, as usual misleading to say the least.

EvaHoffman · 15/09/2020 08:38

Yes of course I understand it's not always the lack of tests themselves but could be testing capacity eg. Staffing, labs etc.

The fact that there is already a small second wave beginning doesn't mean there's no attempt being made to control statistics showing a larger one.

It's completely undeniable that there is a nationwide problem with testing. It's been all over the media (and MN) but the government haven't been able to say why.

but the government haven't been able to say why

Yes, yes, they have, repeatedly. It is the lack of clinical pathologists, ie: lab capacity. They are trying to recruit 400 extra lab staff, but guess what, there aren't any unemployed at the moment.........the pinch point was always going to be manpower at lab facilities.

WhoWants2Know · 15/09/2020 10:08

Whether it's through incompetence or deliberate, the effect is that the lack of testing will conceal the extent of any community spread until it begins to impact on hospital admissions.

WhoWants2Know · 15/09/2020 10:09

By the time hospital admissions begin to show a problem, won't we be back where we were in March?

DowntonEstate · 15/09/2020 10:11

It’s a problem with lab capacity. It’s been reported on lots. Don’t know how you haven’t seen it!

wafflyversatile · 15/09/2020 10:17

It's hard to know how many test related incompetencies and lies there are from our govt. This govt will never admit to any of their failings so they have to pile lies on top of lies. So im going with lots of failings at every stage of the testing system and many lies to gaslight us into blaming young people and parents of ill children.

Never mind. At least our prime minister still has time to enjoy his hobby.

If any lawyers are reading I'm referring to grouse shooting. Obviously.

I'm glad you clarified that. I was just about to google to see which mistress he had banged up this time.
