Anyone downloaded the Lidl app? Is it worth it?

They keep asking me if I have downloaded the app everytime I go in. Anyone downloaded it? Is it worth doing? I know you get £5off your first shop.

I have. It’s ok. Got my £5 off.

You get 4 vouchers per week for money off.

You also get to read the leaflets on it which reduces waste.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 14/09/2020 11:25

Its ok. £5 of your first shop then entered into a draw to win vouchers. Ive had a few pounds back already. There are money off vouchers for various products loaded weekly too, you just have to remember to activate them. Also get e receipts saved to the app which is handy considering how much crap I buy from the middle aisle!

AnnieOH1 · 14/09/2020 11:28

You also get £ back after £100 spent in a month and then a further £10 when you hit £200. Plus scratch cards each time you shop which are worth a few pence or pounds. It's definitely worth it imho.

I use it here in Spain and it is worthit if you shop there anyway. You get offers on stuff you buy anyway. Also you can use Lidl pay on it which is easier than a double card / phone suffle at the checkout. You just wave your phone at the scanner and it does everything.

mine didn't work properly when I tried to get my £5 discount. Took ages of messing around at the till then the supervisor had to give me a manual one. annoying.

The middle aisle is quite tempting isn't it.

@Frownette I'm a sucker for the middle of lidl. Went in last week for some bran flakes and came out with a donut maker, a bundy tin and a microplane Grin

purpledagger · 14/09/2020 22:04

Here is my breakdown (looking at spends on the app)

Total spend £114 over 5 visits (some of these were like 1 bottle of milk and others were bigger shops)

Savings
£5 introductory offer
£2 voucher for spending £100
50p scratchcard win
£2 savings on weekly offers eg 15% off yoghurts, fruit juices, cleaning products, biscuits.

Arghhhhhhhh losing my rag with LIDL!! Such s@@@ customer service. I’ve tweeted so looks like I’ll have to escalate it....Basically app for the £5 off does not work just says ooops not working even though it’s not been used. Manager would not come out of office to sort it yesterday so I’m going round in circles trying to get the refund of the £5. I cannot be the only one???

russetbella1000 · 18/09/2020 12:54

Will be going back to ALDI next week, can’t believe I wasted my time with @lidlgb

Can you explain the Lidl pay to me please? I don't have this on the app anywhere
TumbleTunes · 18/09/2020 13:26

Sorry just realised you are in Spain!

russetbella1000 · 20/09/2020 09:56

Customer service is atrocious! I duly explained app didn’t work eg when I ‘activated it’ it came up with ‘whoops sorry this is no longer available’ and all they have said is it’s not been activated!!!!

Meanwhile I have a receipt with no discount ie I paid for shop as manager didn’t honour the discount in fact didn’t even come down from his office and I stupidly just thought head office would sort out via twitter etc but NOTHING!!! So shocked. Do I go to that ceo email thing. Which is best contact for this. Worst worst shopping experience ever!!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 20/09/2020 10:07

Honestly I understand you expected the discount but you're getting far too worked about £5, just let it go.

SKGael · 20/05/2021 11:06

Honestly, the Lidl app has always been really bad.

Worriesome · 20/05/2021 11:22

If u go there a lot then yeah definitely worth the weekly coupons. U also get a virtual scratch card now and again which gives u 50p or 75p off ur shop regardless of how little u spend. Helps me out when I get my milk for half the price x

Kat70 · 20/05/2021 11:26

Definitely worth it.... one of my scratchcard wins was £20 off my next shop!

rbe78 · 20/05/2021 11:36

Lidl app is totally worth it if you shop there frequently - I hit the £200 mark most months as it's my closest supermarket, so I get the £2 off after £100 spend and the £10 off at £200. So everything is basically 6% cheaper, more if you use the other vouchers.

The weekly vouchers are sometimes useful, sometimes not - but usually for things people do actually buy - i.e. this week there was one for their cheese range, one week it was for anything in their cooked meat range, another for anything in their pastra range.

Sometimes you get a voucher for a free doughnut or similar, always a bonus!

There are also scratchcards/wheel spins after every shop, which can give you specific vouchers or e.g. 50p off your next shop.

The app also stores your receipts, so no more searching for paper ones when you have middle of Lidl regret, or it inevitably breaks...

Never had a problem with the vouchers or app. My only tip would be to load the app and the card up as soon as you've unloaded your shopping onto the belt, as it can take a few seconds to load and holp up the queue otherwise.
