Anyone know of any funfairs that are open?

DS is doing his GCSE Photography portfolio and his chosen topic is light movement.
He ideally needs to go to a funfair at night to capture moving lights (Waltzer or fast spinning rides in the air)
We had planned to go to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park to take the photos but obviously that’s been cancelled this year.
Does anyone know if any funfairs are operating anywhere? We live in London but could make a weekend trip to the seaside if the pier rides are open.
Thanks

There was one over at the hockey stadium in the Olympic park this week. Not sure how long it's on though.

Maybe Blackpool there's the pleasure beach and the illuminations? Not sure if the trams with lights on are running?

chipsandpeas · 13/09/2020 14:24

disney paris may be a shout if your in the south east, hop on the eurostar (prolly would work out cheaper than blackpool Smile )

hippohector · 13/09/2020 14:25

Blackpool is a bit too far for us to travel.
The Brent Cross one sounded perfect as it’s only about a half an hour drive however, I just looked on their website and it says they have a strict no camera policy 🤷‍♀️

Could he wait until October? Stratford-upon-Avon Mop is going ahead on the 11th/12th.

hippohector · 13/09/2020 14:29

Pleasure Beach and Joyland in Great Yarmouth. Both are fab for photography.

iloveredwine · 13/09/2020 14:30

One is coming to Clapham Common fro. September 25th. You have to register covid track and trace before you go

bookmum08 · 13/09/2020 14:33

There was one on Streatham common and one in Brockwell Park (Brixton) recently. I don't know where they have moved to now. Maybe try googling Travelling Fun Fairs and see what names come up and then you might be able to find out where they currently are.

mallowa · 13/09/2020 14:45

@hippohector they were last time I went a couple of weeks ago
have a look here:

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 13/09/2020 14:47

Could he not just use a busy motorway at night? There's me a fair few moving lights there.

hippohector · 13/09/2020 15:00

Thanks mallowa I’ll have a look.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz - yes, he plans on doing this as well. He needs to get as many different creative shots of moving light as possible.
So far on the list he has funfairs, busy roads at night, fireworks and aircraft taking off

CleanHankie · 13/09/2020 17:53

Follow Bensons Funfair on Fb. They've been operating near us recently and seem to be doing some events. They don't seem to advertise that far in advance at the moment though

Racheyg · 13/09/2020 18:03

Just cane back from Brighton last weekend and everything was operating.

We are from London and took my kids to Folkestone fur the day yesterday and the park outside the station has a funfair. It's only a 46 min train ride as well.

Not sure how long the funfair is on for but yesterday we had a great time, waltzers, the cage, the swinging chair thing......all flashing lights
