Depression- sending a care package

A friend who lives far away is going through a bad bout of depression. She can’t work and her husband is struggling to deal with work and the kids.

I was thinking of sending them a package of a few things for the kids to read/play with, a few of her favourite snacks, maybe a takeaway voucher.

Has anyone here been through depression? Do you think those things are appropriate and is there anything else you would add?

Ah that's really kind. I'm sure a card saying you're thinking of her and there for her would be hugely appreciated but your other ideas sound lovely aswell, especially some things to keep the kids occupied. Hope she's feeling better soon

How about have an afternoon tea delivered to her?
So many restaurants and nice cafes do this now and the ones I’ve seen look so amazing.
That and a bunch of flowers would make me smile
