FOOD -How much do you spend on average for a main meal for two adults?

Just that.

I cook for DH and me, almost always from scratch. We only eat red meat around once a week, other times it's fish, poultry or vegetarian.

Excluding all the small ingredients for a recipe, what's your outlay for a main meal incl 2-3 portions beg.

2 adults, 2 children eating nearly adult portions. So about 3.5potions.

Looking at the supermarket receipt, it's £3-4 on average for the protein, then probably £1 or so vegetables, sauces etc.

Do many people work out the cost if food per meal? I have literally no idea.
Surely it will vary quite a bit depending on what you eat so probably couldn't be easily extrapolate from the shopping bill?

We occasionally get Gousto which is £8 per meal (for 2 people). I have worked out that buying the same ingredients myself costs about £6 per meal but I normally get a toddler portion out of that too.
