Do you own a Nissan Juke? Dashboard light question?

I’ve have just purchased a 2018 Juke. I’ve had it a couple of weeks and suddenly a symbol keeps coming on when I’m driving. It looks like a gear lever with an upward pointing arrow. Presumably it’s telling me to change gear? I’ll swear it wasn’t there when I first started driving it! It’s a Bose edition if that makes any difference? Could it be something to do with the different driving modes? I’ve poured over the manual but I can’t find anything.

Can you post a photo?

FlamingoAndJohn · 12/09/2020 14:49

I’ve not got a duke but I have a note which has a similar dash. I think it’s just the gear change indicator. Is it by the petrol gauge?
Why anyone who can drive would need this is beyond me.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/09/2020 15:14

Mine has this - in the centre and an up/down arrow ? (2016)
My Note didn't have this (had to rely on the engine tone )

I did hire a Vauxhall Corsa that kept puting the word "Shift" on the dashboard which annoyed me for some reason Blush

I have Eco/Normal/Sport , my car dictates to me in all modes

Can’t take a photo at the moment. I agree, why do I need to be told when to change gear?

I have Nissan Micra, it has gear shift prompt. Tells me what gear I should be in. Hmm

FiveTwoFaster · 12/09/2020 15:22

It is allegedly to help you save petrol... but who knows.

Phyllidakettle · 12/09/2020 15:24

Must admit it gets on my nerves too. I feel like I’m being disobedient if I don’t change gear.

Yes its telling you to change gear

BayandBlonde · 12/09/2020 15:26

My Nissan X Trail has a prompt reminding me to change gear. Its selecting the appropriate gear for the speed and revs

BayandBlonde · 12/09/2020 15:26

*Suggesting not selecting

DanFmDorking · 12/09/2020 15:27

This is the only one I could find with an upward arrow:-
P position selecting warning light
(if so equipped)
The warning light blinks in red when the ignition switch is pushed to stop the engine with the shift lever in any position except the P (Park) position.
If this warning appears, move the shift lever to the P (Park) position or push the ignition switch to the ON position.
An inside warning chime will also sound.
See “Intelligent Key system”

Yes my Qashqai has that - it tells you to go up a gear much sooner than I would normally.

Phyllidakettle · 12/09/2020 15:29

Thanks everyone, I thought that’s what it would be. Oh well I’ll just have to get used to feeling like I’m being told off.

It was never happy unless I was in min 4th.. I hated it .. it was really hard to drive .

My current car has the same feature but it only moans at me when I am on the m/way doing the speed limit and dont realise I havent changed from the 5th to 6th..

An up or down arrow appears next to the gearstick icon in the middle.

Mine also has a helpful little "Foot" icon to remind me to depress the clutch before pushing the ignition button Grin

And folds the mirrors back and puts the lights off if I don't .

And the Rear View Camera helpfully reminds me to make sure it is clear behind me .

I love my Juke but it needs a smack sometimes , patronising wee gobshite !

Phyllidakettle · 12/09/2020 15:44

70isa Sounds very much the same as mine. I’m still getting used to it to be honest, but I do love it.
