Am I too old for these shoes?

Am I too old to wear these shoes? I'm on the wrong side of 40. I think they're lovely but fear I may be too old. My husband jokingly said I would be better buying a nice pair of court shoes. www.schuh.co.uk/womens/converse-all-star-camp-daisies-lift-ox-pale-pink-trainers/1923283370/

No!

everyonesmama · 11/09/2020 17:53

I hope you suggested tartan slippers for him!

Winegumaddict · 11/09/2020 17:54

You're never too old to wear what you like. Buy the shoes life is too short. I find the older I get the less I care!

No, course you're not. Get Them!

sunshinesupermum · 11/09/2020 17:55

Go for them! I'm much older than you and would buy them. But I've just bought a fab pair of biker boots ...

SendHelp30 · 11/09/2020 17:57

You’re definitely not!! Order them.

Hoppinggreen · 11/09/2020 17:58

I don’t like them but the age of the wearer is irrelevant

Goldrill · 11/09/2020 18:00

Ooh they're nice! £70 though [misses point of thread]

summer25 · 11/09/2020 18:01

Thanks. Feeling very positive and will order them.

No, not too old! I’m not so keen on those particular ones but I have some flowery plimsoles that I love

steppemum · 11/09/2020 18:03

no.
Before I had even seen the picture of the shoes, the answer is no.
If you like them, then wear them.

(and I think they're great)

Runkle · 11/09/2020 18:06

Nothing to do with your age but I don't like them personally. And certainly not for £70.

emilybrontescorsett · 11/09/2020 18:08

Of course you are not too old.

beautyisfoundwithin · 11/09/2020 18:10

I love them and I think you should definitely go for it! No such thing as too old. Life is too short not to enjoy yourself!

Whatsnewpussyhat · 11/09/2020 18:14

The price of converse now is ridiculous. £70 for fabric pumps! Wow.

Wear what you like.

ragged · 11/09/2020 18:17

I'd wear what I like & DC's embarrassment can be damned.

CorianderLord · 11/09/2020 18:21

Wear what you want, I wouldn't wear them to work but out and about is your choice

ktp100 · 11/09/2020 18:35

Who gives a shit what people think, on Mumsnet or otherwise, about their shoes, really?!!

Don't buy into that 'too old' bullshit, OP!

Wear whatever you want. End of.

HaudMaDug · 11/09/2020 18:35

No one is ever too old for Converse or Docs.
They are fab looking Allstars OP.
Go rock them🤘

midlifenewspring · 11/09/2020 18:37

How can you be too old for shoes?

everythingbackbutyou · 11/09/2020 18:40

They're gorgeous! I am also on the wrong side of 40 and I want some now.

Meruem · 11/09/2020 18:44

I have hello kitty converse. I’m 50. My DC think they’re great! Just don’t try and walk a long way in them! Converse are crap for long walks as I found out to my cost.

barberousbarbara · 11/09/2020 18:51

I'd wear them. I was 41 when I bought pastel rainbow glitter DMs. During lockdown I bought pink metallic DMs. I also own Sesame Street Toms.

I couldn't care less what people say. An ex used to mock my choice in shoes. It backfired on him because I used to seek out the most outrageous shoes I could to wind him up.

WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat · 11/09/2020 18:57

No of course not!
I believe the Queen Mother used to wear a very similar pair, even on State Occasions (full length skirt) as they were so very comfy.
Although she did have use one of those bunion stretcher devices to get them fit.
Apparently she had feet that looked like a 'battered biscuit tin' when viewed from above.

wilde85 · 11/09/2020 19:02

Not at all, wear them and rock them!
