How many weetabix do you have?

Dd age 13 just had six. I told her a normal portion is 2 (that’s what I would have) and 3 if you are extra hungry. Am I right?

I cant bare them but my 2 year old eats 2 and a whole banana.

and then I have to do the nappy which is like getting concrete off

firstimemamma · 11/09/2020 13:17

2 (I had 3 or sometimes even 4 when pregnant or breastfeeding though).

Untrained · 11/09/2020 13:23

I had to stop buying weetabix and go totally cold turkey. I knew it had to be done the day I had 8 in one sitting. I just had them plain mushed up with milk. I'd start with 3. Then id still be hungry so I'd have another 2 (or 3). Then there was only a couple left in the packet so I'd think, "well might as well finish them off".

(Disclaimer: My portion control is an issue)!

TwilightSkies · 11/09/2020 13:27

I don’t think weetabix is properly filling, it just makes you bloated.
As others have said, teenagers go through growth spurts and can eat LOADS. As long as she isn’t overweight and generally has a varied diet I wouldn’t worry too much.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/09/2020 13:38

None, I do not even know what that is, but then I am outside the 'weetabix cultural domain'. But I will google now ..... I did google.

Why anyone would want to eat something soggy for breakfast is beyond me (looking at you DH and your oatflake stuff).
You popbably have to grow up with it - like horse meat and Möppkes.

DidoAtTheLido · 11/09/2020 13:43

An Egg and two good slices of wholewheat toast and a banana would be cheaper.

tiredanddangerous · 11/09/2020 13:43

2 with a banana on top. If cost is an issue a big bowl porridge would probably be cheaper than a 6 a day weetabix habit.

JingsMahBucket · 11/09/2020 13:56

I just looked at the nutrition and Weetabix doesn’t even have all that much fiber! www.weetabix.co.uk/our-products/original-classic/weetabix

Kellogg’s All-Bran has way more smartlabel.kelloggs.com/Product/Index/00038000219610

Oldbagface · 11/09/2020 13:57

Op is she tall for her age? I had this conversation with a friend recently. My Ds is 13 and has six and is 5 foot 7 and growing fast.

My friend and her late husband were/are average height. Her sons are both well over six foot and always ate six wetabix. She swears it makes them grow as if its a fertilizer for teenagers Grin

TitsalinaBumSquash · 11/09/2020 14:01

I have 2 with half a sliced banana and a drizzle of honey and milk.

This is Mumsnet though, you'll get everything from the competitive under eaters who will be all wide eyed and claim to only eat 3 crumbs and a dribble of water and be 'stuffed' or the people that will eat a whole packet and a cows worth of milk. 🤷🏻‍♀️😅

I'm intrigued, do all 6 go in a cereal bowl whole or is it a have 2 and then go back for more type thing, OR are you mushing them into Wheatabix cement?

I reckon I could eat 6 but don't because I'm a super chub, I have a 13 ye old son thought that inhales food like it's going out of fashion.

Midnightsky1 · 11/09/2020 14:03

Yes she is big for her age and much bigger than me! 5ft 7 and size 8 feet.

@Midnightsky1

Yes she is big for her age and much bigger than me! 5ft 7 and size 8 feet.
Then it's a problem
peonyblossom · 11/09/2020 14:06

I have two and I'm a 36 year old grown woman. However, my 2 year also also has two, with whole milk plus a banana for breakfast quite frequently! Which I think is a lot for a two year old but she eats her lunch hours afterwards so can't be too much! She's growing fast I guess.

I remember living at home and my hungry teenage (at the time) brother used to have six with a pint of milk!

Crystal87 · 11/09/2020 14:09

Hardly ever eat it but would be 2, DH has 3.

DidoAtTheLido · 11/09/2020 14:13

Do you mean big for her age as in overweight? Or just tall?

JingsMahBucket · 11/09/2020 14:26

5’-7” doesn’t seem that overly big/tall for a 13 year old. Are you much shorter than her?

Oldbagface · 11/09/2020 14:30

The average height for a 13 year old is five foot one inch so yes. They are tall. It's that weetabix I tell thee Smile

AriettyHomily · 11/09/2020 15:04

I hate them

My kids eat three, skinny 8 year olds

Husband has one

Champagneforeveryone · 11/09/2020 15:07

4, but they are Waitrose Essentials ones which I think are a little smaller than the real deal.

H1978 · 11/09/2020 15:38

My opinion exactly

motorcyclenumptiness · 11/09/2020 15:48

most ends up on the floor
That's the best place for Weetabix - it's like eating wet chipboard

riotlady · 11/09/2020 15:53

2, but I have to have them one at a time so the second one doesn’t get soggy.

I’m not sure that informing her of the serving size is enormously helpful though. Is she overweight? Does she overeat generally? Sometimes growing kids get hungry.

CousinDolores · 11/09/2020 15:54

I definitely had size 8 (42) feet by the age of 13 - I can remember the School Shoe Misery. I can't remember exactly but I probably wasn't far off 5'7" either - I had my major growth spurt at about 11.

Mind you, I was raised on Ready Brek.

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/09/2020 15:56

I don't like them, but I'd say 2/3 is a normal portion size

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 11/09/2020 16:01

Why is it a problem @UnfinishedSymphon? I assumed OP meant tall rather than obese.
