I have opened pack of boursain, can't remember when opened - in last week possibly a bit longer,

Also unopened packs of veggie square sausage and veggie black pudding dated tomorrow, can be frozen but these things always say freeze on day of purchase

Can I use the boursain and can I freeze rest?

I'm never sure on this stuff.

Anyone else get confused?

I trust my nose & sense of taste as backup.

freeze the sausage and black pudding no problem (ignore the labelling, you're within date, just write on the pack a reminder to use it promptly when you defrost it).

Boursain will be fine. Smell test not helpful here due to garlic, but if it looks the right texture and smells OK it will be OK.

Thanks so much I'll give the Boursin a sniff, their site says 5 days after opening though and I think it's been longer

I'm an idiot as I've pens in the kitchen just for such things as writing dates on leftovers I really should start writing on stuff when opened would reduce my food waste I'm sure

The rest I shall freeze tonight although I'm going to have some as a late dinner.

First time trying the veggie black pud.

I'd freeze the thingies and cheese ... well if it's pasteurised it's ok quite a bit past date!

Graphista · 10/09/2020 20:51

Sigh of relief - cheese unopened and well within date - 15th Oct

Got to fridge and realised I'd some veggies I needed to use so opted for stir fry instead

Veggie stuff now frozen in portion sizes - that's my Saturday or sun morning brekkie sorted for a month!
