Gmail/outlook issue can anyone help?

I have an iPhone/Mac with the outlook app and I access my emails through gmail on the outlook app. I have various mailboxes to sort my emails eg home insurance/car insurance/holiday etc

Today I went to look at my emails and my inbox was empty. I haven’t moved anything to the bin.
The bin was full of emails but random ones I had deleted months ago interspersed with some of the ones from other mailboxes.

I checked on gmail website and it mirrored both my Mac and phone. Lots of emails had disappeared.

As I looked in the mailboxes on my phone emails were disappearing before my eyes. Then reappeared in other mailboxes.

Now there’s loads missing - stuff I really needed to keep, like insurance details etc. They only seem to go back to early August on my Mac but October 2019 on my phone. Hundreds not there which should be, others have moved mailbox.

Anyone any idea what’s going on? How can I get them back? I am stuffed if I can’t find some of them as they contain details I need imminently (travel insurance claim amongst other things)

Hi Qwenzo, the first thing to do would be to change your email passwords in case you've been hacked. See if any rules have been created which have moved your emails around. Contact Gmail directly (can you find a live chat or help desk)?

Done thank you. I have managed to recover the deleted emails - changed password and set 2 factor authentication.
