Hi,

Posting for traffic, how long do you cook your jacket potatoes for?

I'm not gonna lie, I usually buy them frozen and microwave them so just looking to see what everyone else does

Thanks x

I put mine in the air fryer for an hour on 200. Absolutely perfect and fluffy. Don’t prick them or anything, just in as they are.

Justjoinedforthis · 10/09/2020 14:41

Hour and a half on 190 for me!

LyndaSnellsSniff · 10/09/2020 14:43

220c for an 70 mins. Don’t prick them! Cover in oil, salt and pepper.

I put mine in the microwave for a few minutes each side then in the oven 10 mins each side.

NiceGerbil · 10/09/2020 14:44

I give them a wash and stick them in the microwave for 10 mins or so turning once. Skewer to check soft in middle.

Then whack it in a super hot oven till the skins all baked and yummy usually about 20 mins.

Not as nice probs as one done totally in oven but still very nice and when I want a jacket I'm impatient Grin

Now googling air fryer!

Great minds, revolution!

Justjoinedforthis · 10/09/2020 14:46

I have tried not pricking but had a few explosions! How can you stop that? Baked spuds are my favourite dinner.

growinggreyer · 10/09/2020 14:47

Yes, you do need to prick them. My Grandma had a very nasty accident when a jacket potato exploded in her hand as she lifted it from the oven. The steam inside will be the same temperature as the oven, so if you want to have 200 degree steam blasting uncontrolled into your face, crack on.

firstimemamma · 10/09/2020 14:48

Wash, prick, in oven 180 for an hour minimum. Smile

Verite1 · 10/09/2020 14:58

Microwave then 20 mins in oven on high heat

dirtyfries · 10/09/2020 14:59

Pricked, lightly oiled and salted then wrapped tight in foil. Piled up in the slow cooker for 4 hours high/8 hours low. Perfect easy dinner after a long winters day at work!

CremeEggThief · 10/09/2020 14:59

10 minutes in the microwave and 15-20 minutes in a hot oven (gas mark 8), with skewers through usually.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 10/09/2020 15:05

In the combi microvave, microwave and oven on full blast together, two pricked big ones done with crispy skins in 14 minutes.

BubbleBoy12 · 10/09/2020 15:08

Thanks everyone xx

Stick a metal skewer through the middle.
Speeds up cooking time
