Portsmouth “ghost” cruise ships

Hi, we are heading to the Portsmouth area at the weekend, and while we are there we thought we’d like to have a gawp at the “ghost” cruise ships that are moored offshore.

We don’t know the area at all. Can anyone recommend a good place to go which has a nice clear view of them please ?

Thanks in advance !

From a distance though!

Some of the boat trips that will take you out to see them seem to operate out of Mudeford Quay?

Saisong · 10/09/2020 13:13

We saw 3 from Bournemouth pier on bank holiday Monday, and they were running boat trips out there from the pier too. Not what you were asking, but thought it might help if you really want to see them!

There are boat trips so that people can view the ships up close , Mudeford Ferry is running them this weekend.

Xpost sorry

Yup, and hour down the road from Portsmouth.

terrywynne · 10/09/2020 14:55

They are all along the south coast - we've seen them at Bournemouth and Weymouth - I read they are anchored between Plymouth and Portsmouth, so OP should be able to see them close to Portsmouth. No idea where though, sorry OP! They are very impressive to see and slightly eerie.

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 10/09/2020 16:45

We saw five or six from Southsea which is just down the road from Portsmouth

Bassettgirl · 10/09/2020 16:51

We saw about eight in Weymouth bay in the summer. Maybe they move around?

middleager · 10/09/2020 17:16

I saw them in Bournemouth and Weymouth over the summer.
Many of our photos have them in the background.
