This is my second visit, last time I got toilet and kitchen roll, washing capsules and fabric softner etc.
What else is good? Frozen food etc?
TIA 😆

BarbaraofSeville · 10/09/2020 15:15

Crosta Mollica frozen pizzas are amongst the best frozen pizzas available.

The gin advent calendar should be in now/soon.

Prawn dumplings in the frozen section - delicious

If you have school kids needing packed lunches the Nature Valley bars are half price.

I always get Danish pastries.

CoconutLassi · 10/09/2020 16:03

Big bags of frozen prawns, great value, chuck them in curries, tacos, salads etc

JingsMahBucket · 10/09/2020 16:07

Sheet cakes. Much better than British cakes.

speakfriendandenter · 10/09/2020 16:12

Their bin bags are amazing!

Rockbird · 10/09/2020 16:17

Black bin bags, roll of 90
Kitchen foil, massive roll, lasts forever!
Big tubs of marmite
Big tubs of set honey
Lurpak is often cheaper than in stores
Huge packs of cheese
Stew and dumplings meal for dinner the evening of a Costco trip!
Bags of little dinner rolls. Addictive. A bag of about 30 lasts minutes in this house!

CultOfWax · 10/09/2020 16:20

Tin foil.

I've had this one since Easter 2019 - seriously, and I reckon there's another years worth left on it.

Their pancake mix! 😋

SummerOfComedy · 10/09/2020 16:27

Frozen duck springs rolls. Not skimpy with the filling.

Cooked chicken. On the large side and so tender.

Baco parchment paper. Lasts ages.

Frozen lemon sole.

Chicken and bacon tub sandwich filler.

16kg sack strong white bread flour by Marriages. Cheapest I've seen anywhere. (I make a lot of bread ☺️)

WaxOnFeckOff · 10/09/2020 16:33

Stew and dumplings meal for dinner the evening of a Costco trip!

Lasagna usually for us - spoiled for choice.

Then next day usually I breadcrumb the cod and we have proper fish and chips.

Spanish tray bake with the chicken thighs and bag some up for use during the month

I could go on.

I moan when we come out £300 lighter but it does feed our mean means for a week or so and fill the cupboards of basics for ages.

Unfortunately we can't use the washing powder or that type of thing anymore but we do use the dishwasher pods.

SewingWaspish · 10/09/2020 16:40

Lavazza coffee

Athenajm80 · 10/09/2020 16:53

Does it work out cheaper than the supermarket or do people just love Costco for the quality? I've always been tempted to join but not sure if it's worth it? Also I'm a very easily tempted shopper so can imagine coming out with tons of stuff that I don't need but was too much of a bargain 😂

LynetteScavo · 10/09/2020 16:56

I don't think it's much cheaper than Aldi for things like toilet roll.

I'm going to renew my membership now, just for the brownie mix.

BarbaraofSeville · 10/09/2020 17:03

Some things are cheaper than supermarkets, for us Lavazza coffee, cat food and litter, toilet rolls (Costco own brand really good and far cheaper than Andrex etc), part bake ciabattas, mouth wash off the top of my head. Also deicer and some other car bits. Books can be cheap but limited range and they do some merino wool socks that I really like for winter. They also do special offers that work out even cheaper in some cases - we get the bin bags and dishwasher tablets and they last for ever.

You can get decent quality sliced meats for less than the supermarket. Some alcohol offers are good. I think cans of drink are cheapish, but we don't buy those so not sure.

Meat and fish OKish price, but quality good.

You can probably shop for less in supermarkets if you stick to Lidl/Aldi/Farm Foods and special offers in mainstream supermarkets, otherwise, it's mostly decent value for good quality rather than cheapest possible.

And yes, there is a risk of buying things you don't really need. The cakes and pastries get mentioned a lot and I can imagine people going through them quickly if they have them so not saving, but I think they are awful quality so never buy them. Look at the ingredients before buying.

WaxOnFeckOff · 10/09/2020 18:07

I'd say that some stuff is equivalent in price to offer price in Supermarket. e.g. cereal bars, cans of coke etc, but the point is that you don't have to hunt for the offer- it's always on.

Plus, definitely better than average supermarket quality for same or cheaper price. So it's something like a tenner for 12 massive Aberdeen Angus burgers. You might get some nice burgers in the supermarket but they wont be as big or as good. Actually smell like steak when you are cooking them.

Might be similar price but double quantity and better quality.

Imo anyway.

There are some things I buy for convenience rather than price and some things I don't bother with as the size would mean it would go off before it was used.

I don't buy pastries etc anymore. I seem to have a core group of things I now buy so avoid buying massive amounts of stuff that I don't fully use.

Flour- that’s liquid gold for next lockdown!!

Timeforanotherusername · 10/09/2020 20:55

Do they still do the New York Style Cheesecake?

If there is a petrol station, it tends to be cheaper there too.

We can easily spend £500. Its a bit of a trek for us though so we buy a lot on each trip.

WaxOnFeckOff · 10/09/2020 20:58

I was reading an article about some of the Kirkland own brand being other famous brands in disguise. It was mostly american though (as was the article) so many of the things were not anything I recognised. But the ones I did pick up on were that their batteries are duracel and nappies were huggies and the wipes were some brand that is premium in US but can't remember now.

HansBanans · 10/09/2020 21:02

Cupcakes, cookies, Cajun chicken wraps if they still do them... macaroni cheese! Some of their trousers are really nice too

HansBanans · 10/09/2020 21:03

Just noticed someone said Christmas wrapping paper. 100% this! It's reversible and really good quality. Same with their tags, ribbons, fabric ribbon, etc.
