Zoom family quiz ideas

We are having our first extended family Zoom this weekend with relatives of different ages. From teenagers to in their 70s. There are 5 different couples/families. Has anyone done any good zoom quizzes they could recommend to stop awkward silences?!

Yes! if you can do screen sharing then try finding name the logo quizzes online, there are loads of ready made ones. And there are guess the Disney song from the intro quizzes on YouTube. Dingbats are also good fun (but difficult), there are loads available.

We did it by making a 20 question round per household, it worked quite well and meant that no one was saddled with having to do the whole thing.

Google 'online quiz socrative'. You can create your own and I think you can decide what questions you want. Someone has to be the quizmaster though.

DS came up with a good round for our family soon quiz.
He had 5ncatergories - boys name, girls name, food, animal and place and then gave us all a letter which we had to think of something for each catergory. If no-one else got the same as you you got a point.

This week, we all sent in selfies and my DB used an app that merged two at a time. Weirdly compelling.

We did the merged faces using celebrities on one of the quiz groups I'm part of and you had to guess the two celebrities.

We also like flags, questions about the county that most of us live in and nature questions - name these animals for example.

Baby photo round! Always a laugh. My sister did this for a family quiz but made all the photos black and white so the age difference of the photos wasn’t quite so obvious

My next round is going to be a "who lives here?" So famous houses from TV/films and pics of them.

We did some family quizzes earlier in lockdown with 4 or 5 different households within our family. In our family of 4 we each chose a few questions (my 10 yo chose facts from the guiness book of records and did as multiple choice) teen DD did social media stars, DH did sport, I did general knowledge. 20 something nephew did a music round, SIL did questions about the family.it worked well.apart from PIL who struggled with the concept of zoom

My friends and I took turns running a quiz in lockdown. On my turn, I did a Guess the Scout Badge round. They can be oddly tricky.

We did a treasure hunt, first to hold the item in front of the screen wins the point. Items were things like a Xmas sock, thermometer, something from your childhood, a pair of sunglasses, a mask etc. Could probably be adapted for across the ages.

We've also done symbols from maps and anagrams of countries. If you google anagram quizzes, you can find really good anagrams eg lizard newts for Switzerland.

I did an ikea products round. I screen shared a list of ikea names like 'billy', 'kallax' etc and pictures of the products and people had to match them up.

I also got the flags of countries cut out in the shape of the country and I think that made it harder than just country outlines or flags alone!
