People complain about irrespnsible neighbours.

Western Power Distribution are supposedly repairing a substation operation.

Yes, I've been patient, yes, I've been understanding but they have set up FLOODLIGHTS to enable their work which are shining in to my front room and everyone's BEDROOM at night and i can't sleep

I am posting for traffic here as I spoke the General Manager last night and they assured me the works woudl end yesterday. And there has been NOISE>

500 yards away from our flat. The flood lighst are appalling. How does that compare with the thread about a neighbour's SHED.

This is far worse I am phoning them again.

Very annoying but they are still probably less irresponsible than Pacific Gas and electric, who were responsible for the water poisoning uncovered by Erin Brockovich and several fires including the one that destroyed the town of Paradise.

What sounds more irresponsible is leaving an unrepaired substation. I get its annoying but I assume they need the lights to see what they are doing!

TheSpottedZebra · 09/09/2020 21:59

Those bastards, trying to ensure people have power Sad

Aveena · 09/09/2020 22:22

The most irresponsible company on this planet?! For using lights to repair a substation?

Are you on glue?

FallonsTeaRoom · 09/09/2020 22:50

Try living in an area which has had roughly 3 powercuts a day for the last fortnight. Hmm

BrieAndChilli · 09/09/2020 23:05

I’ve found them quite good actually. We had a substation or something blow a couple months ago. Our power went off and came back on fine but the other side of the village found that boilers and TVs and other appliances etc were broken so western power went round to everyone’s homes, made a list of what needed replacing and either fixed or replaced everything.

If people’s power is off or in danger of being off then I would be happy they are working out of hours to rectify it.

greengreengrass14 · 10/09/2020 20:24

Try that when they are shining floodlights into your bedroom.
Week after week.
Also some strange sort of car alarm.

Nothing to do with repairs actually.

And they still need to take into account how local people are experiencing it.

I found them quite good when they came out and fixed my main fuse at 11pm midwinter on something like 23/12, for free, and turned up within half an hour of reporting it.

greengreengrass14 · 10/09/2020 20:44

As for 'less irresponsible' if people including me didn't keep an eye on it then they would push it as far as it would go.

So as it happens, I am pretty fed up with everyone and his dog saying

Oh, you should think about x that is worse than you. And so on and forth.

No, I haven't even mentioned shed loads of other things they do actuallyl.

As I've said if no one phones up, no one posts on here, they push it as far as it will go.

Mumsnetters post on here about SHEDS in their line of SIGHT.

No comparison
SHEDS don't shine FLOODLIGHTS into properties weeks on end and have alarm systems that sound all night.

But . . . you said in your OP that they're repairing a substation. Now you're saying it has nothing to do with repairs . . .

I get that it's frustrating and inconvenient; have you contacted them to ask how long the work will go on for?
