Hi, I have applied for a job based in Central London, in the public sector, wondering if anyone would know if successful would I or the company be able to apply for London Weighting as this is not included on the advert?

Should have mentioned this enquiry is specifically for admin roles in the London Fire Brigade and Ambulance service regarding eligibility for London Weighting Allowance.

I work in a very similar role (not LFB) but it just gets paid automatically to those that work in eligible areas. I’m surprised it’s not stated in the job advert. Half of my county is eligible.

LeSquigh thanks for response, if its not mentioned in advert do you think London Weighting is already included in advertised salary, you mention county, is this half of your colleagues eligible front line and admin and support staff?

Half as in those in the northern half of the county get it due to the closeness to London but those posted to work in the southern half don’t. All staff get it if they work in the right location. To be honest it isn’t advertised with us but that’s probably because you don’t necessarily get it. Those LFB/LAS roles where ALL staff get it I would imagine it would be advertised as such however I don’t know that for definite.

Maybe it's automatically included in the salary because it's the London Fire Brigade or Ambulance service. All the jobs are in London so all attract weighting compared to the Manchester (for example) equivalents so while it's not mentioned in the advert it's included in the salary, which will be higher those offered in lower cost areas for companies jobs.
