Just curious really as today is our 3rd wedding anniversary and we are going to lunch at Toby Carvery then tomorrow going for a fun day out in Southend, wishing we could go on a proper break but Covid is putting paid to that better to be safe though :)

Ours is 3 days before valentines so we always have a weeks holiday and have a night out on our anniversary and on Valentine's Day. We stay somewhere fancy where the weather is nice and have a lovely week. It's also something to look forward to after the grimness of January. We only buy each other a very small Christmas present and the holiday is our belated main gift to each other.

Usually go out for a meal locally - something a bit extra for 5, 10, 15 years etc.

lachy · 09/09/2020 15:10

We do cards, but not much else! Or most recent anniversary was possibly the most romantic...

First Anniversary I was in the middle of a sciatica attack
Second Anniversary dd ended up in A & E
Third Anniversary FIL passed away
Fourth Anniversary spent in single beds in a rickety caravan
Fifth was successful Wink

It was our silver wedding in March and we were going to do a weekend away abroad (Spain which locked down before UK), which got changed to a weekend in UK, which got changed to a meal out which ended up as a M&S ready meal at home!

We did finally go out for a meal locally last weekend without the kids and wished each other Happy 25th and a half anniversary!

RowenaCoxwell · 09/09/2020 15:22

Happy anniversary!
It’s mine today too-26 years-we usually go out for tea, but nothing really fancy. We’ve both booked a day off work (Friday, not today, I didn’t want the day off then have to go back to work tomorrow!) mostly though it’s because I have loads of leave left. Last of the great romantics eh?!

MsSquiz · 09/09/2020 15:40

Our first anniversary - weekend in London to see Aladdin (cancelled due to no water in the building, after everyone was in their seats!) and Sunday lunch at Blanc Brasserie

2nd anniversary - I was 4 months pregnant so DH paid for a full body massage for me and then cooked big fat juicy burgers and a mountain of chips for dinner.

3rd anniversary - DD and I had a zoom baby yoga class, then we went for a family walk and DH made an amazing steak dinner for us with a bottle of Veuve

Notverygrownup · 09/09/2020 15:52

It's my only excuse to buy champagne, and so instead of going out we usually use the money to buy a takeaway and a bottle of champagne, and watch our wedding video, then a film.

Hubcapdiamondstarhalo · 09/09/2020 15:53

We usually just went out somewhere nice for dinner and opened a bottle of cava at home. Gifts for milestone ones only. This year we had our 40th during lockdown - we had booked a few days away in the uk, and would have had a family gathering of some sort as it was a milestone one. We're just postponing all that to next year.

swizzells2003 · 09/09/2020 15:54

Mines today too, 11 years today Smile we've been really boring and are both working so will treat ourselves to a take away tonight

NiceTwin · 09/09/2020 15:55

Nothing. No cards or presents or nights out.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 09/09/2020 15:57

Usually tease each other about how old we are/whether we'd get less for murder, etc and then get a bit tipsy and have a cuddle in front of a film.

happymummy12345 · 09/09/2020 16:05

We usually just have a meal and drinks at home. We have a young child and hd no family around to look after him so we could go out. Dh is a chef so he loves cooking nice meals for us. So we used to get ds sorted and in bed, then have a romantic evening together, nice meal and a bottle of something fizzy for me and something for my husband (he doesn't like champagne or Prosecco and prefers something he actually likes).
This year we were in lockdown at the time so obviously couldn't do anything anyway. But my dad has recently moved so hopefully in the future things will be different and we may be able to go out instead (depending on how things go with everything of course)

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 09/09/2020 16:09

Halloween so recently eat takeout, eat sweets and watch scary movies. Pre kids we used to go away for a few days.

Minty82 · 09/09/2020 16:11

We usually go out for a fancy dinner but this year it was in lockdown so we had a bottle of fizz at home and a takeaway with the children which was lovely as we hadn’t had one for months and they were so excited.

cptartapp · 09/09/2020 16:15

Ours was Monday , our 19th. We were both at work but left the teens in the evening and went out for tea together.

Animum2 · 09/09/2020 16:55

Thanks all!

We like to celebrate our wedding anniversary and our getting together date (November 6 2015) as we feel they are both as important as each other

1st wedding anniversary went to Penzance for a long weekend was lovely
2nd anniversary went to Brighton for overnight stay

Our 1st date was at Wimpy, we went at lunch time during work and we did the same for 2nd, 3rd and 4th anniversary, very consistent we are!

Lunch at Toby Carvery was lovely, still full up so won't need dinner

We normally go out for a nice meal- used to go on trips pre-children but we’ll have to wait until their adults before we can do that again. Luckily DD is 15 so not too long to wait.🤣

Happy Anniversary!🎉

lynsey91 · 09/09/2020 17:15

We have been married 40 years. It varies year to year as to how we celebrate.

Sometimes we go away for a couple of nights or longer. We often go out for a meal but sometimes get a takeaway or even cook a nice meal.

We give each other cards and usually a present, often just something small.

If we don't go away we normally go out for the day

caringcarer · 09/09/2020 18:00

Happy Anniversary. My anniversary is end of July so every year except this one we have been on holiday. This year we made a meal at home.

BraeburnMia · 09/09/2020 18:18

We would go for a meal for our wedding anniversary up until our 4th one when I gave birth to our daughter instead of going for our booked meal. 😁 Now every year is all about our daughter. We tend to go out the weekend closest to the date now, we have the children babysat and go to the theatre for a night out and a meal together. My husband knows he needs to save up though for when it's our 25th anniversary as our daughter will be 21 the same day. 😂😂😂

Marmite27 · 09/09/2020 18:20

Last year we all had noro. You don’t want to know what we were doing Envy

Usually a nice meal at home or out depending when it falls / babysitters.

Benjispruce2 · 09/09/2020 18:24

24 yrs here. We shared a bottle of champagne, swapped cards and small gifts. No night out as was in lockdown.

Benjispruce2 · 09/09/2020 18:26

We marked our 10th and 20th with a night or weekend away in a nice hotel and plan to go away for 25th if things are better with Covid.

Celticdawn5 · 09/09/2020 18:27

We don’t do anything. We used to exchange cards but no longer.
Secretly envious of couples who do acknowledge the date lovingly but came to the conclusion if my husband couldn’t be bothered, then I shouldn’t waste my energy .
