Just that really. Learnt how to draw the last few months (thanks to YouTube) and dabbling with charcoal. Done a picture I'd like to sign but the background is entirety charcoal/black. So how do I sign it. Have tried googling but nothing comes up.

Thank you

With a charcoal pencil.

Will it show up? Sorry if I am being stupid...I seriously never picked up any charcoal til August. Background is very black. How would the charcoal pencil show?

If its shaded black you can use a sharp charcoal pencil that will show the signaturw

Have attached. So where I would normally sign is totally black.

White chalk?

Ah bugger. So I shouldn't have shaded it so dark then? Pants. Oh well, learning curve I suppose. Unless any other options?

Lovely drawing!

Would a white gel pen work?

WhereToCut · 08/09/2020 22:41

I could test a bit with a sharp pencil on another piece of paper. Just don't want to ruin the pic (I know the raindrops are a bit dodgy but am quite proud of it).

Head-Desk. That might work. I ordered some earlier today too! I should have thought of that. Thank you!

One of those white pens they use to write on specials blackboards in restaurants and pubs, they're like liquid chalk I think??

FortunesFave · 08/09/2020 22:52

The section in the far bottom right looks light enough for a charcoal pencil to show up. Lovely pic!

Unescorted · 08/09/2020 22:56

Fix it with hairspray and sign it with a white pen, sign in the white area or sign it on the back.

Drysnitchinsbitchin · 08/09/2020 23:12

White pastel should show up.

inappropriateraspberry · 09/09/2020 00:56

Sign it in pencil. Tuck it in a curve of a petal as small as you can.

Cooloncraze · 09/09/2020 02:54

On the back. Not all artworks need to have visible signatures- I prefer to barely notice them as they can detract from the image.
Lovely drawing.

Toodeloo · 09/09/2020 06:57

On the back. I generally sign with name/date of completion/sometimes place of completion.
