Hi! I used steak 72 hrs ago and it's been in the fridge since. Is it OK to use??? Google isn't helping! M&S packaging says use immediately.
Seem ok! Will do it well done!
Any thoughts!?

Thanks

If it smells fine is absolutely use it.

VodselForDinner · 08/09/2020 19:56

If you’re going to cook it well done, you may as well fuck it in the bin now and save the electricity.

What do you mean you used it 3 days ago? What sort of meat is it?
If you think about the butchers - they have opened meat out for days.

Haha..OK I chickened out and threw it away. I'd used 2 steaks and two were left. Nevermind, children don't need to eat daily , do they.
Thank you.

If you used it how can it be in the fridge? What did you use it for?

ChickenwingChickenwing · 08/09/2020 20:06

Oh I see, sorry, you had opened it Blush

SpliffingOramorphedOut · 08/09/2020 20:06

Crikey... Urgent?

We have hugely different opinions of what urgent means, especially as it was so urgent you can waste good food.

DramaAlpaca · 08/09/2020 20:07

You threw it away? Shock

Stored in the fridge it would've been perfectly OK to eat.

Clymene · 08/09/2020 20:13

Why did you throw it away? It was in the fridge.

How can you earn enough money to buy steaks from M&S (and throw them away) and understand so little about food hygiene? Confused

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 08/09/2020 20:17

You threw away steak that had been opened 3 days!?

What an absolute waste of food

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 08/09/2020 20:18

I'd have eaten it. You can normally tell by the smell.

So why did you bother posting?
DocusDiplo · 08/09/2020 22:28

Hahaha why are some of you so .. aggressive? I wrote urgent because it was a dilemma I wanted an answer for so I could cook dinner.

I went to M&S because I had to return something there and was having guests so treated us to something nice and easy to cook and save a trip to another supermarket.

I don't know much about food hygiene because I generally buy from a supermarket and use an opened packet within a day or freeze it. I also rarely cook steak. I also have a job that is of an average pay!

Furthermore, I threw it away as when I smelt it a second time, I wasn't sure if it smelt bad or if I was paranoid. I threw it away as I didn't want to risk stomach aches for my child. I didn't think. £4 or whatever was worth days off school.

Do any other people have any other questions for me???

Sheesh! Thanks for help. And sorry for the silly post - I did try googling for ages and appreciated the input .

Goodnight! Smile
