Weird “advert” to have on Mumsnet?

Is it me or does anyone else think it’s a bit odd to have that advert/whatever it is for that picture that looks like a penis but is actually a hairstyle/plait? I presume that’s the joke anyway, I haven’t clicked!

Pic if it attaches! Not sure how to tag MNHQ into this

You know the ads are personalised to relate to the things you search for online! 🤣

@FredaFrogspawn Blush

But that a weird niche “jokes of things that look like dicks” Grin Not something I’m often searching!

Yep I had to do a double take AND. I sent a screen shot to a friend 🤣

Spudlet · 08/09/2020 19:22

I was just wondering what on earth I could have searched for to get that too BlushGrin

It seems to be an ad for a men's magazine called gentside. Maybe you or your OH was looking at this?

Whatsnewpussyhat · 08/09/2020 19:26

Brilliant 😂

Thisisnotnormal69 · 08/09/2020 19:27

I don’t think either of us have googled gentside no!! But then I get loads of weird gossip magazine style adverts, I never go on anything like that, neither does he...in fact I rarely get relevant stuff. Which I’m probably glad of I guess!

I keep getting these weird ads for shit online stories like that. It used to just be shopping ads, and I definitely haven't been looking uk things like this.

CormoranStrike · 08/09/2020 19:33

It’s a programmatic advert - not one chosen or agreed by Mumsnet but instead bought by an ad firm who bid for space on large numbers of websites, and the adverts serve out impressions (ads) in their millions around the world.

@justineMumsnet and tech can lock it if they wish.

CormoranStrike · 08/09/2020 19:34

*block

Jojoanna · 08/09/2020 19:38

Agree it's weird! We'll try to root it out and block. Thanks for the heads up.

No worries, hope you get to the bottom of it

Thisisnotnormal69 · 09/09/2020 11:06
