Yoga for fatties

VampireBill · 08/09/2020 18:43

Proper hefty bmi starts with a 4 fatty wanting to start yoga. Nothing to be done in real life around here, so was hoping for some recommendations of where to find someone online/you tube or even dvd. Or can 'regular' yoga be done by everyone?

I'm fairly flexible with good balance and reasonable core although have a damaged shoulder which stiffens up from time to time (basically when I stop the physio exercises).

Any recommendations out there? Google is a minefield with too many options.

Yoga with Adriene is great for explaining poses and the feel rather than the shape so she's always worth a start. They vary in length and difficulty. The original 30 day series is probably a good place to start. Plus she has videos focusing on specific moves/ sequences.

There are plus size video instructors out there, although I don't have experience of them.

Yoga with Adriene is for fatties and everyone. Some excellent upper back videos too.

Ive struggled a bit when I tried adrienne as I physically cant do some moves. If you imagine being pregnant and then adding extra padding I cant move into loves as I have a stomach in the way!

Following with interest.

I've never really got yoga.

Can anyone tell me if it's made a difference to them and in what way?

I went to Pilates and I though it was yoga. It's fucking not. I felt really out of place and I think the class I picked was really cliquey. I didn't go back.

There is a new 12 week class starting tonight at 7.30 on you tube. I'm waiting for that to start.

nancybotwinbloom · 08/09/2020 18:58

On you tube how do you enrol? To the class?

jazzyroll · 08/09/2020 19:00

I searched for Hassra yoga. I just stumbled across it on fb about 20 mins ago. I don't have a account but maybe I need one?

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 08/09/2020 19:00

Whose class?

OhioOhioOhio · 08/09/2020 19:02

I just bought a stretching book.

The Yoga Room on YouTube has lots of sessions for 'fatties'...
