Failed my course assessment

I just found out I failed an assessment I sat a few weeks ago. It's a really straightforward course based on the job I've been doing for the last 20 years. Getting the qualification is not essential but would look good on my cv if I decide I want to do something different in the future.
I've never been academic but even I thought I might scrape through this one. I'm so disappointed. I can resist but don't really know what I can change so that I pass it next time. Feeling a bit tearful and pathetic

I feel for you op. Is there anyway to get feedback as to why you didn't pass?

My assessor is waiting for my paper to come back and then she'll go over it with me.

It's hard, I'm sure you can learn from it! Some people just dont do well in assessments. Doesn't matter if you've been working in that area of 20 year or 20 minutes.

My partner is great at IT but techincally failed his courses when he was younger, despite being perfectly capable at doing what he does day to day.

You might also find when you get the answers back that, theoretically what you are supposed to do (and answer) is completely different when actually applied to your real world.

I am definitely one of those people. It makes feel really stupid and I'd love to find a way around it. I'm trying not to be defeatist but just don't know how I'm going to get around it.
