I am desperate to reach a financial settlement so that my daughter and I can get settled into a new home before school applications in January.

My ex just won't cooperate. I have made an offer to split marital assets down the middle and he insists that some of his contributions should be ring fenced. He is ruining my life. I am being held hostage by the fact that he is living in the house (the primary marital asset) and therefore just sitting on money that is rightfully mine/should be used to benefit my daughter. I can barely focus on anything because I just want this to be over.

Hi welcome to the club of shitbag ex’s. You need to see a solicitor. Where are you in your divorce proceedings? It can still take months to get your money out the house.
What money have you got access to as an alternative?

Oh, I have a solicitor. This is about the mental side. I am practically choking with rage.

We haven't entered into divorce proceedings as of yet. We are just doing mediation. I have savings, fortunately.
