If you could fast forward and be passed Covid, would you?

But it would mean you lost a year/two years of your life to get passed it?

Asking because it feels like we are treading water waiting, even with things opening back up.

No. Because we couldn't do the things we normally do we found new things to do instead and visited places we wouldn't have gone to normally and got some new hobbies. Obviously the stress of other things has been bad and we had a bereavement but in balance there have been harder years.

Fantasisa · 06/09/2020 21:49

Wading through treacle is definitely more apt!

It just feels endlessly depressing at the moment with nothing certain to look forward to.

No I’m having a baby in a few weeks and I have a 2 year old. Even if we have to stay in a bit why would I want to miss these amazing years!

Wrongdecider · 06/09/2020 21:51

I wouldn’t fast forward that much. I’d personally fast forward to January 2021!

missmouse101 · 06/09/2020 21:56

It's past. I know I will be crucified, but if you get passed something, someone is giving it to you.

Xmasbaby11 · 06/09/2020 21:56

No, I wouldn't want to lose those months. I still appreciate many things, including time with my loved ones. I feel I have plenty of little things to look forward to, even though I am worried about the future in general.

Also, when will it get better? We don't know. When covid retreats there will be other problems.

Fantasisa · 06/09/2020 22:04

@missmouse101 I'm genuinely happy to be corrected! I didn't even think.

PAST it is!

2020 is a shit show but that is no excuse for poor SPAG.

No, if I'd fast forwarded though the last six months I'd have missed some lovely, bright moments. You have to take the rough with the smooth.

beela · 06/09/2020 22:34

@Fantasisa

2020 is a shit show but that is no excuse for poor SPAG.
That's my favourite quote of the weekend.
kittensarecute · 06/09/2020 22:36

Yes. In a heartbeat.

Bedroomdilemma · 06/09/2020 22:37

No way would I lose 2 years of my life, I have my wonderful family to spend this time with (sounds cheesy but lockdown wasn’t so bad with them!)

amicissimma · 06/09/2020 22:47

I really like this thread. Two quotes to live by and only on page 1:

"2020 is a shit show but that is no excuse for poor SPAG."

"You have to take the rough with the smooth."

I'm off to bed with my resolve strengthened. Thank you.

SquishySquirmy · 06/09/2020 22:50

No.

But I can of feel as though I have been on fast forward so far!

I find it quite disconcerting how it is now September, and how recent March feels, and how little I have got done since then!
It is as though I have lost those months!

I think this is something weird my brain does when going through weird/stressful times and its happened before... the first year of my dd's life is a bit of a blur for me, with just a few patchy memories of her and almost nothing of anything else that year (like news stories, people I met, a holiday I went on...) She is 7 now and it was just that first year or so that was on "fast forward". 2020 has been another fast forward year for me but I'd rather it wasn't. I have fomo about my own life! Grin

SquishySquirmy · 06/09/2020 22:52

Oops! I mean to write "I kind of feel" not "I can of feel"

Yes, I hate this dampened lifestyle we are living now.

JM10 · 06/09/2020 22:55

Absolutely!

Fantasisa · 06/09/2020 22:55

Yes @BikeRunSki, like we are on quicksand.

No way.
Life is too short as it is. My auntie always told me when the big things are hard find the joy in the little things. It’s seen me well so far. Flowers to all those struggling.

Babyfg · 06/09/2020 23:16

Definitely not. Stuff like this always makes me think I'll wish for one thing and get something 100 times worse.

SciFiScream · 06/09/2020 23:25

No. I'm forever telling my DC not to wish their lives away. So I need to live that example too. Try and find a bit of joy in every day.

A funny shaped cloud, a butterfly, a silly joke, just find a moment and make it last.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 06/09/2020 23:29

I’m expecting DD2 any time in the next couple of weeks so no.
