So they now have a deal of $150 millions pounds
To create content for Netflix

Seems the papers didn’t see that one coming

Good for them.

The haters must be frothing at the mouth.

But if the first one tanks then they won’t be paid the full £150million. I am assuming that Netflix are hoping for a tell all expose type of thing. I did read they were thinking about a programme about Diana. I’m also not sure what they can and can’t produce about the royal family with the queens sign off??

rainwaterflow · 06/09/2020 10:39

Depends what kind of contract they have and what the rollout plan is.

I very much doubt it’s to produce “exposes” - it’s to produce things like nature documentaries and presumably content (both fiction and non-fiction) related to social issues. I doubt any of the content will feature the British royal family.

I haven’t had much thought on Harry and Meghan but there’s something about it that does just seem a bit grubby. The talk of a tell all/Diana themed show.

I thought they wanted privacy.

I'm thinking they might do 'commonwealth' type programmes like they created for their tour in South Africa. Travelling to places for social issues and highlighting local charities and initiatives who are supporting local people.

Good for them. Harry has my respect for supporting his wife. Forsaking all others. Good husband.

I thought the 150 million was just media speculation.

The Obamas scored a similar deal. They made the documentary Becoming, which was hugely popular, and another called American Factory won an Oscar.

I don’t know why the Sussexes get under people’s skin so much. But they really do, don’t they?

Pretty much all of it is tabloid speculation, though it certainly won’t be cheap.

The official line is that the deal is to produce “documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children's programming.”

Harry has recently worked on (not produced) a Netflix documentary about the Paralympics. I bet anything he’ll produce a documentary about The Invictus Games.
