What to do in Warwick (2 adults)

We’re off to Warwick next weekend for the night. We’ve never been before (I’ve been to the castle) and have no idea what it’s like. Can anyone recommend any pubs/bars things to do for 2 adults? Thanks

Came on to recommend the castle... Sorry. I loved it. Did you do all the demonstrations? They were the best bit.

Rose & Crown - lovely Sunday lunch
Saxon Mill - slightly out of Warwick but beautiful view on the river
Tasha Dali - www.tascadali.com/ they do an evening set menu of five courses which changes - great value and nice not to have to think about what to order
St Nicks park is quite nice and has boats to hire
Have a wander around the antique shops!
If you want high street type shops go to leamington, a 5 min drive away - beautiful buildings and the usual chain restaurants

Not sure everything at the castle is running currently - definitely wasn’t when I last went a month or so ago. The bird show is excellent if you’ve not seen it and it’s on, though I think the day tickets are overpriced!!

I’d catch the train to Stratford Upon Avon. It’s only half an hour.
Charlecote Park is nice for walks. At this time of years it’s common to see male deer rutting in the orchard area and the paddock.

You’ll need to book online for Charlecote Park at the moment, tickets for next weekend opened on Friday.

The Castle isn’t properly open at the moment, but there are some demonstrations.

Agnes has given some great suggestions of places to eat but to be honest there’s little in the way of nightlife or anything in Warwick or Stratford at the moment. Book anywhere you’d definitely like to eat.

Will you be bringing a car? Leamington has a busier high street for shopping. Stratford is quaint and has lovely coffee shops and things. Birmingham or Coventry are fairly close if you want nightlife with an element of normality... it’s all a bit quiet, though.

Ooh ooh I just remembered I need to recommend the Art Kitchen too - if you like Thai food...it is just brilliant, really authentic and tasty small restaurant with great wine!! They have put up separators between tables and opened the fold out doors at the front - which is a lovely place to sit and people watch.

Years ago I went to an amazing Lebanese restaurant in Warwick, if it is still there I highly recommend it!

ZeldaSmelda · 06/09/2020 16:43

Thanks everyone, I’ll
Check the things out you’ve said. I booked the wrong hotel (well, wrong place, long story) but premier inn will only let me change the date not the location so we might as well use it or lose the money which is why we’re off to Warwick and not somewhere a bit busier like Manchester

If you’re interested in Charlecote Park, there’s also baddesley Clinton, packwood house, Upton house and coughton court in the local area. You’ll need to book for all of them.

Leamington and Stratford upon Avon, there’s lots of walking around the riverside and some nice shops in both. In Stratford there’s a cool 1940’s themed cafe called Fourteas.

I think it’s called Aqua, @GetUpAgain? They have a shisha courtyard too.

We recently went to Hatton locks. Lovely walk alongside a canal.
