Everything tastes meh!

I don't know how to describe this - I can taste everything, but just don't like anything I eat. Even stuff I normally really like! Is there a name for this or am I just weird?

OP posts:
tearinyourhand · 05/09/2020 21:40

Might the name be Covid 19?

TulipsAndLilacs · 05/09/2020 21:42

Get a covid test.

StealthPolarBear · 05/09/2020 21:42

Get a test! If you can, fancy a day trip to Brighton?
Any other symptoms?

TheoriginalLEM · 05/09/2020 21:46

Get a covid test, classic symptom.

It can however be as a result of blocked sinuses, mouth abscess or post cold/viral infection.

I had this about two years ago, everything tasted rancid. Dr put it down to post viral. It tooka while but it went

ItsTimeToPlayTheMusic · 05/09/2020 21:49

Test. Either of the Covid or preggers sort.

Lockdownseperation · 05/09/2020 21:49

Covid

greyinganddecaying · 05/09/2020 21:54

I thought covid was loss of taste/smell? I definitely have taste, just don't like anything!

OP posts:
greyinganddecaying · 05/09/2020 21:55

No other symptoms, although I'm very tired (not unusual for me)

Fyzz · 05/09/2020 21:56

Are you taking any new drugs? I have a horrible bitter taste in my mouth which is a side effect of a drug I'm taking.

wildcherries · 05/09/2020 21:57

I'd get a test.

greyinganddecaying · 05/09/2020 21:58

No new drugs (& definitely not pregnant).

I'm really struggling to get enjoyment out of eating (unknown for me!)

gamerchick · 05/09/2020 21:59

Dental issues can do this as well. It's not as if we can just go for a check up atm though.

Helloitsmemargaret · 05/09/2020 22:02

The NHS lists 'loss or change' to taste/smell.

Worth getting a Covid test.

Helloitsmemargaret · 05/09/2020 22:03

You can go for dental check ups @gamerchick

Willow2017 · 05/09/2020 22:07

It could be a side effect of medication you are taking. They ruined my sense of taste and it's a pia.
I had a head scan as it can be nerve damage which causes it and they wanted to rule that out before blaming the drugs. Try and get an appointment your up for a referral to neurogist.

Willow2017 · 05/09/2020 22:07

Your GP fgs!

DollyPartons · 05/09/2020 22:09

I went through a completely weird spell where everything tasted beyond weird , and smelt vile. I went off nearly every food except milk and cornflakes! I was pregnant unbeknownst.

BrutusMcDogface · 05/09/2020 22:10

I know it’s been said, but please get a Covid test!

pushananas · 05/09/2020 22:13

I get this when my hay fever is bad.

sandieshaw · 05/09/2020 22:15

Yep, def get a Covid test. My friend had all the symptoms but said that savoury things tasted fine whereas anything sweet tasted disgusting and she couldn’t eat them.
Changes to taste are as much a symptom as complete loss of taste

BusMum79 · 05/09/2020 22:21

Definitely get a Covid test, as others have said. We had it (but no testing back then) in mid-March, and although my husband had the classic fever / cough symptoms, mine started with everything tasting bland and meh. I had no real desire to eat (super weird for me), I then lost taste & smell a few days later. It didn’t come back for a couple of months (for others it was sooner so don’t panic!) and I still find I’m not that bothered about food. Total change for me.

gamerchick · 05/09/2020 22:24

@Helloitsmemargaret

You can go for dental check ups *@gamerchick*
You can tell my dentist that if you want. Grin I'm getting twitchy.

I have been waiting 6 weeks to get a call from mine when they put me on the "needs to be seen" list! Good kuck with just a check up!
CarolVordermansArse · 05/09/2020 23:18

Mint does that to me. I use a Vit D spray which is mint flavoured and it makes everything taste odd. It also makes me cough.

I knew this way before Covid because it happens every time I remember to use the spray. Colpermin also does it.

Gancanny · 05/09/2020 23:19

I'm supposed to be at the dentist for a check-up next week, they rang me on Friday and said they're still only seeing emergencies and urgent appointments so all routine check-ups are being rescheduled. My rescheduled appointment is for February.
