Help me! How do I book a covid test for my children?

I get that it's through the gvt portal, but I have no symptoms, only the DC do. They both have heavy colds, but started coughing today. They need to be tested to return to school (after 2 bloody days in). According to the nhs page, I think it's only them (not me) who should be tested?

I started booking the test and put in my info (as the children certainly don't have emails or phone numbers), but will this book only me in for a test? (I'm the only one who doesn't need one!). I want to get them tested, not waste one on me unnecessarily.

Alternatively, have I misunderstood and I also need testing?

Have I misunderstood and I should be tested too? I thought it was only people with symptoms, unless in closs contact with a confirmed case.

Just get one for yourself too.

I think I put my son’s name in. But it doesn’t really matter - when you get through to the "do you have symptoms" page, just tick yes. Then later on on the form you have the option to add more family members anyway.

Officially you don’t need a test unless you develop symptoms.

There's a number on the website to call, that's what I did for my son, you don't need a test if you're not symptomatic, but you and everyone in your house should isolate until your child has a negative result. If they are positive then you get tested!

119 will help you.
I did it online I just booked it with their name but my details, seemed to work ok. I didn’t get a test as I didn’t have any symptoms.

Good luck, we had to go miles away to a walk in centre. They were really really good though and helped us do it.
