Miscarriage - how much bleeding to expect

Hello I should be 7 weeks pregnant but a scan has revealed the pregnancy hasn't progressed past 5 weeks and the only thing seen on a scan was an irregular collapsed sac. I've had 2 mmc that stopped developing at 9+2 and 10 +3 there was a lot of pain and bleeding with those but I don't know how much bleeding to expect with an earlier miscarriage. I have been bleeding for 6 days but like a period. Am I to expect severe bleeding? Any experiences would be appreciated x

Firstly I'm so sorry you are going through this Thanks

I know if varies from person to person. For me it was a bit heavier than a normal period and lastest longer but it was manageable

I had the exact same miscarriage as you. I’m really sorry for you. 🌻
Bleeding started like a period at 7 weeks but scans showed it hadn’t progressed past 5/6 weeks.
It got very very heavy by day 5, massive clots coming out and painful. But a subsequent scan after a week still showed pregnancy tissue (the sac hadn’t gone yet). So I continued to bleed lightly for a further week. Next scan showed sac still there, again. I had medical management where I bled lightly (no pain) and a few days later I painlessly passed the sac. I then bled lightly everyday for a further 3 or 4 weeks. So, tbh, ALOT more than I expected!
I think even if the pregnancy hasn’t progressed the tissue and associated lining build up, so you do still have 7 weeks worth of lining etc to pass.( I think.)

I miscarried at 13 weeks so can’t offer any information, but wanted to say sorry for your loss Flowers

I think it varies. One of mine which was similar stage to your current one was really bad and I had surgical management due to severe bleeding.

I’m sorry for your loss. I declined surgical management, but mine was at a similar stage and became very heavy about day 10, and continued for just over a week. There were a few days of I couldn’t leave the house heavy.

So sorry OP Flowers. I had a loss around the same stage. In my case it was two weeks' worth of heavy period type bleeding.

So sorry for your losses. I've lost 3 now and the bleeding did vary depending on the gestation.

The one I lost at 7 weeks was an initial blob, then more like a slightly heavier period for a week. The others 10 and 11 weeks were heavier and bleeding lasted longer than a week.

Strangely, with all 3, I had the inital gush/pain/bleeding, then it eased for a few days. Then about 2-3 days later, I had another, smaller gush of clots, then the bleeding subsided again. I hope you are doing ok, but if your baby was lost at 5 weeks, your bleeding sounds completely normal Flowers
