Please help me with this minor argument Grin
How old do you think the author of this poem is?
It’s the second draft. Finished other than missing the 2nd line of the first couplet....

You are my daily sunshine with harmony and peace.

Every night I think of you when I see the brightest star,
So if we’re in different places it doesn’t seem so far.

In my heart I will always find a place for you,
The only thing that’s blocking us is not true.

When I see the smile on your face it makes me feel okay,
And takes me up to heaven every single day.

Together our imaginations run wild and free,
You are the one who will comfort me.

So next time I see you I know I am at home,
But now I think of you and I’m not alone.

I'd say the intense early teenage years.

RiftGibbon · 04/09/2020 11:02

Either around 14 or 70. It's quite twee.

I didn’t know it was written by a child and it hasn’t been posted by a child. The OP kept that out of the OP because she wanted people to guess the age of the writer! So I answered without reading her updates.
I don’t know why everyone is so sensitive on the OP’s behalf, the tone of her OP was arch and suggested she wasn’t seeking corroboration if the genius of the poet.
Read her first paragraph for god’s sake, and check the grin emoji!

Grin

  • except I’d add at least a decade on the age, what with being rather close to 53 myself Wink

Oh god I honestly don’t think it’s exceptional! I did think it might be a bit tricky to age because of its tweeness, but definitely not because of skill Grin

Deliberately not read thread. I'd say anywhere between 7 and 11, maybe 12. It's sweet.

Fucking hell, that's a bit close to the bone.

ImaSababa · 04/09/2020 14:00

Gosh that is a dreadful poem, whether written by a child or a pensioner.

Bunnymumy · 04/09/2020 14:05

Yound teens.
I don't think full angst has kicked in yet.
Its clever and well considerd but sorta innocent.
Like they're talking about ideas of how feelings should be. But without exactly having had experienced them.

I'd guess anywhere between a particularly clever 8 year old and 13.

OllyBJolly · 04/09/2020 15:23

Grin @Humbersider

TheMarzipanDildo · 04/09/2020 15:31

Oh I think it’s very sweet OP. Nothing wrong with being like a sentimental grandmother (at age 9) Grin

AbsentmindedWoman · 04/09/2020 15:32

@Kittykat93

It's written by a 9 year old ffs. Shame on the bitter nasty people who come on just to slag it off even after knowing the age of the author.
Exactly.

God I cannot imagine what it must be like to have such powerful urges to sneer at other people.

OP more power to your daughter's elbow! Tell her to keep writing Smile

I think it's lovely her grandma is so proud Smile

DipSwimSwoosh · 04/09/2020 21:15

OK I've read the updates now but I would have said anything from 8 up and that it is very sweet.
