This happens tonight and my DS has never seen the illuminations. Is it worth me doing (2 hrs) to go and watch?

Will we be able to get anywhere near / park, or will it be a nunfight?

Personally Blackpool is firmly on the list of been there done that and wouldn’t recommend. The time I went the parking was shit, big signs saying to ignore sat nav follow signs. Considering at the time it was the 100 year anniversary of the illuminations I thought they would have had a better system in place.

I love the illuminations m, they're shit and dated but they remind me if being little. We go when it's darker earlier, I wouldn't fancy going for switch on.

nunfight
That's got to be worth 2 hours of anyone's time (my money's on Sister Mary Michael) Grin
Sorry nothing useful to add other than I loved the illuminations as a kid

Nah, don't bother with the switch on. But definitely go a bit later in the year when the nights are drawing in darker and it's colder. A walk down the prom looking at the boards then getting hot chips is peak childhood!

I understood the lights are already switched on and tonight is just the official concert, but online only.

I would wait to go a few weeks until the initial busy-ness has died down. They are staying on until January this year, 2 months longer than normal, so plenty of opportunity to go In October or even around Christmas time.

It’s not open to the public tonight. It’s a virtual switch on.
