Just seeing how common it is

Not kids but me and my mum went to the same high school.

My stepmother had been at the same secondary school that I went to. My half-siblings are now at it (20 year age gap). When I was there my stepmother had been taught by two or three of the same teachers, and now that my sisters are there, there are a couple of my old teachers still there. I don't think there are any teachers still there who taught my stepmum, though. My sister sent me a picture last term of her new Maths textbook - it had my name in it and a date of 1999!

we're in a large city, and I've still met a handful of people at the school gates who went there themselves.

In fact, one friends not only attended the same school her DC goes to, but now teaches there as well.

Yes, Same high School as my DD who has just left school this year. We had one of the same teachers which was strange at parents evening.

My children went to the same primary school as their mother, grandfather and great-grandfather!

I went to the same primary as my gran, mother and auntie. I went to the same secondary as my father and other two aunties. Very common..

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 03/09/2020 13:04

DS went to the same primary as me for year 6, and the same secondary as my sister. His cousin now is the deputy head at the primary school.

itbemay1 · 03/09/2020 13:13

My DS goes to same school my DH did and his brother. My DD went to same school as her aunt did. My old school was dreadful so no chance they would have gone there.

Walkerbean16 · 03/09/2020 13:14

I did, and as i had him quite young he still has a few of the same teachers i did!

my mum also went there 50 years ago.

DioneTheDiabolist · 03/09/2020 13:15

mummyof2boys30 · 03/09/2020 14:37

My kids go to primary school I went to. 1 of their teachers taught me. Their nanny and great granda also went to same school. Will go to secondary school their dad went to as well

Baaaahhhhh · 03/09/2020 14:48

Both my DD's went to the same prep school as me, and DD2 went to the same secondary. DD1 got in to the better school that both myself and DD2 failed to get into...... but we still love her Wink.

I went to the same schools as my mum. Thankfully I moved, so DS won’t be subjected to the same. The infant and primary schools were okay, but after that... Sad Not that there’s any guarantee our local one will be better of course, but at least I’ll never have to set foot in those places ever again!

TeenPlusTwenties · 03/09/2020 15:56

I know quite a few families who have sent their kids to their old schools.
No issue with that.
Except with those who chose the secondary based on where they went themselves, rather than look at the two options in our town and decide which is currently most appropriate for their children.

Snozzlemaid · 03/09/2020 21:54

Yes both primary and secondary

elliejjtiny · 03/09/2020 22:00

It's very common where I live. I'm not from round here but dc have been to the same primary and secondary as 2 of dh's cousins and I went to the same secondary school as my mum, my aunt and my uncle. Most of dh's relatives have either been born in or died in our local hospital.

thegcatsmother · 03/09/2020 23:00

My son went to the same sixth form as me, and was a boarder as well. 30 years between us though!!
