Just seeing how common it is

Not kids but me and my mum went to the same high school.

DC was in reception with a child whose parent had been taught by the same reception teacher in the same school.

And I went to an open evening at the secondary school at which the head teacher did a speech where she pointed at prospective parents in the audience that she'd taught at that same school years earlier. She remembered their names - I have no idea how Shock

(tiny village in Italy)

Thneedville · 02/09/2020 20:26

There was a teacher who actually recognised DC1 when he started on the basis she taught Dbro 20 years previously (Dbro is much younger than me, I had DCs late).
It’s a 2-form entry school in a large town.

No, we don’t live where I grew up.

We were born in the same hospital, although the bit I was born in was demolished years ago.

ChikiTIKI · 02/09/2020 20:27

Yes my dad went to the same primary school as me and my siblings. Kind of the same high school too... The one he went to and another one got merged together and me and my siblings went to the new merged one.

@MondeoFan

No but I think it'd be really lovely and nostalgic to do so
I think that depends on whether you have good or bad memories of school.
ImNotWhoYouThinkIam · 02/09/2020 20:29

No but my brothers and I went to the same secondary school as our Mum. We had some of the same teachers one of whom had grown up with my Grandad so he knew 3 generations of us.

DS2s secondary is part of a new academy Trust. The 'original' school is where my step sibs and cousins went.

My dc were also born in the same hospital as me and Kate Middleton

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 02/09/2020 20:29

DDs are at their 3rd school due to moves. One of the TAs taught at their previous school, and one went to their first school as a child. The schools are in 3 different countries.

WhoUsedMyName · 02/09/2020 20:30

I went to the same school as my dc and some of the teachers were still there. My ds teacher was the year below me at primary

CaptainSpirit · 02/09/2020 20:31

My eldest DD has just began attending the preschool class of my old primary school - next year she'll be in the reception class too (fingers crossed 🤞🏻). She's wearing a tiny version of the uniform I used to wear when I was a child!

I also worked there for five years and took maternity there from when pregnant with her, seems so strange that she's old enough to attend herself now.
I have a lot of attachment to that lovely school. Smile

BackforGood · 02/09/2020 20:31

Primary, yes. It wasn't that unusual.
I knew one family where at lest 4 generations went to that same (Primary) school.

Kaktus · 02/09/2020 20:31

Yes, I went to the primary school that my DC’s are at. DD2 currently has the same teacher and teaching assistant that I had at the same age... 30 years ago!

EDSGFC · 02/09/2020 20:32

My husband and I both went to the same secondary school that our children went to and they also went to the same primary school that I went to.

My sister's children went to the same schools too.

stardance · 02/09/2020 20:34

I went to the same secondary school as both my parents, my son starts there tomorrow. My Grampy also went to school there, although it had a different name back then!

Teenagedream · 02/09/2020 20:35

Yes primary and secondary schools.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/09/2020 20:36

Very common when I was at secondary.

Justvisitingthisplanet · 02/09/2020 20:36

I went to the same primary and secondary as my Mum and aunt. Lived in a village with only one primary school and the nearest secondary school was in the next village.
I had 3 teachers who taught my Mum and 1 who used to be in her class at school. My sister's form tutor was my Dad's cousin .

Lazysundayafternoons · 02/09/2020 20:37

My ds is attending my old primary school at the minute.

LockdownDowner · 02/09/2020 20:39

My Dc went to the same primary as me and the same comp as me and dh.

Kaktus · 02/09/2020 20:40

I’m not sending them to the same secondary I went to though, it was shit. We’ll either go private or move.

wfh2020 · 02/09/2020 20:42

My daughter went to the same infant school as my husband... no teachers in common as she attended in 2011-15 and he left the school in 1968!

StopGo · 02/09/2020 20:43

DSis & I went to the same school as our DF. She had the same reception teacher as he did. I'm a lot older than my DSis, I really felt for her when she went to secondary school. Teachers all though they were getting a shy and compliant child like me - wrong!! Dsis is a much bolder and lively person than ever dared to be.

homemadecommunistrussia · 02/09/2020 20:45

My Dad was a legend at my high schoolHmm

toomanyspiderplants · 02/09/2020 20:45

I went to the same school as my dad. I have a pic of him there in the 1940's....there was a new teacher in the pic, who was deputy head when I was there.

toomanyspiderplants · 02/09/2020 20:46

Oh my DD goes to same school as DH
