Track and trace

Can anyone help a bit... I'm confused about the covid isolation/track and trace stuff. Currently we have an outbreak at a factory in town, so employees and their family are isolating... all good makes sense. But going forward... my kids are seeing their dad, who lives with his partner and her 2 children, plus his other son visits when mine do... if one of her kids are in contact with some and have to isolate do we too? If someone at his work he's been in contact with, tested positive and he has to isolate.. do we too?
If so my 'bubble' is massive - 3 kids school bubbles, plus all the people in his households bubbles? I'm really confused.

If you have been contacted by track and trace to isolate, call them and ask.

No. If somebody has Covid and is notified by track and trace they and their household isolate.

If a person has been notified that they have been a close contact, that person must isolate. At that point other members of the household dont have to isolate but they should try to social distance.

If the close contact develops symptoms they should get tested, plus they and their household should self isolate.
