Relocating - Edinburgh vs Dunblane

Hi Mums, Looking for some advice about our upcoming move back home to Scotland. I am a single mum of two little ones nearly at Primary School age and I currently brainstorming about whether to move to Edinburgh or Dunblane. My main criteria is living somewhere that feels safe (since I am on my own) and that has great school options. I know that Dunblane ticks those boxes but is there anywhere in Edinburgh you might suggest? I'm a Glasgow girl and surprisingly feel a bit lost when it comes to Edinburgh. I will be working a couple of days a week in Edinburgh and my ex partner wants us to be there because he will travel back and forth from the airport. However my mum lives in Crieff hence the pull towards Dunblane so that she can support more easily. I will have to rent for the foreseeable future and ideally would like a place with a garden. I feel that the quality of rentals in Edinburgh is a bit bleak. Any thoughts? Would love to hear some mum points of view! :)

What about somewhere in between like Falkirk or Stirling?

Hello, I don’t know the area so well but just wanted to let you know there’s a Scotsnet board and some helpful people who can help. There may be some similar threads already to look through (though I’m sure they’ll also be happy to help with yours too). Good luck with the move.

I'd have a look at the cost of renting in each place.
Edinburgh will be dearer especially if you want a garden and although rent may be cheaper in Dunblane you will have more commuting costs than in Edinburgh.
Depending where you will be working in Edinburgh car parking can be a nightmare, though there are a few Park and rides on the outskirts.
Commuting within the city can be time consuming but suppose that's the same for most places.

I'm in Dunblane and there are very few (in fact I think, no) properties to rent at the moment. The housing market is nuts at the moment, houses on for 2/3 days at most before going under STC.

We looked at Edinburgh too but ultimately the school situation put us off. That is, the huge number of private schools which was something we did not want to compromise on.

Get your name down with local estate agents/letting agents would be my advice.

This is becoming available to rent @Beachpippin , in Dunblane.
