Sodding scorched shirts.

I have just managed to lightly scorch every. single. one. of the new school shirts whilst ironing on name labels. I'm an incompetent back-to-school mum and I can't even blame it on being new to this - I've ironed this type of label for 14 years!
The iron is quite new and obviously gets hotter than the old one, so I'm blaming it.
Anyone else done anything stupid today?

I scorched wedding shirts once. Now that was a bad day !! Best man had to run out to local bloke outfitter and pick up three off the peg. Wedding rhe next day. Worra plonker.

TL:DR I feel your pain.

Grin Sorry I can't be more sympathetic. It's very funny though. I've got about 40 labels to sew in by hand.

One word: Stikins!

FlibbertyGiblets · 01/09/2020 19:02

*the not rhe

Sharpie pens! Make the best labels.

biro
biro
doesn't run like sharpie on some fabrics.

I feel for you op did the same with first dc...

BlueSlice · 01/09/2020 19:11

Noooo @pinkbalconyrailing biro fades so badly. To the parent it still looks legible after twenty washes (because they wrote it and can make out their child’s name) but to a teacher picking a random jumper off of the school field at the end of lunch it is impossible to make out!

thelegohooverer · 01/09/2020 19:11

Sharpie is your friend here. Giant letters inside the collar. My dc have never lost a piece of uniform yet because their names are visible at 20 paces.

ScorchioScorchio · 01/09/2020 19:20

@Solderingon I'd rather have the scorched shirts than have to sew 40 labels.
