Alone for a week- what should I do?

DH and kids have gone on a biking holiday.

They aren't back until Friday.

Given I have;

Done my chores
Bought nice food to make myself lunch and dinner
Watched a couple of episodes of my favourite tv show

What other fun things can I do on my own?

I'm sheltering so I can't take myself for a meal or cinema or anything like that.

I would listen to some Audio books or read. I never get enough time to read. It sounds blissful!

Fivetoomany · 31/08/2020 14:54

Have a nice relaxing bath and pamper. Paint toe nails etc. Yummy snacks and lots of books. Games on phone, new tv series.
You are living the dream! Enjoy Smile

Yeah I have a book to finish in prep for my book club next week but o was saving it for a lovely bath with a bath bomb later.

Don't mean to gloat but it is blissful! I have had the kids for 5 months through the week as DH has been working from home and I was made redundant. It's so quiet here. Lovely!

Ooh paint the nails! I was bought a gel light kit for my birthday so I'll get that out!

OP, I’m so envious! I would be reading, watching a LOT of tv, eating my nice food, calling a few friends living overseas (at pre-arranged times), bit of crafting, maybe sort a room out, bit of yoga... that is my dream, anyway 🤩
How old are your DC? Just wondering if/when I can suggest just this thing!

JaneJeffer · 31/08/2020 15:24

Play loads of music and sing along at the top of your voice.

joystir59 · 31/08/2020 15:31

Go out and meet up with friends. Take yourself on a bit of a road trip. Go on a long walk somewhere new. Get out and use some energy in between the relaxing and pampering.

joystir59 · 31/08/2020 15:33

And if you live next door to me and sing at the top of your voice as badly as I sing I will be banging on your wall OP

Go out (now the weather has improved) for a nice walk in the countryside somewhere. If you don't mind people, stop off at a lovely place for tea and cake, if not, take a wonderful and luxurious picnic with you.

Start Christmas shopping! Sit online, make notes of things that you see that might 'do' for various people, note down the websites that interest you. Maybe lay in a few things ready!

Go to a gallery or museum - somewhere that you couldn't go with the children. Take your time browsing around the exhibits. Read the catalogue or take an audio tour, really soak it up.

Ooh some brilliant ideas there!

Christmas planning! I will start. I have a spreadsheet every year ha ha.

I'm going to pop out and buy myself some wine.

And then I will see if my two pals who live in New York are free for a chat. Brill ideas!

DD is 8.5 and DS is 10. Both little clones of their Dad and love cycling and camping. I don't 'do' camping. I did offer to come if they booked the Yurt on site but

I had a bath, did some 'online jobs' (looked for a holiday) and cleaned the kitchen.

I'm rearranging my wardrobe now.

If you can pop out to buy wine then you can probably go to the cinema! There will be far fewer people there than at a supermarket.

leafeater · 01/09/2020 13:43

Can you get out into the countryside for a couple of walks? Maybe visit a NT place?

lalalalaloo · 01/09/2020 14:09

Yes I'm heading to a local Park for a walk. Will be weird on my own. Just reading with a cuppa now.

They've sent some fantastic photos and I'm now a little bit jealous ha ha

Lie in and early night and/or afternoon naps too! Basically catch up on sleep.

How did your week off go, OP? Hope you managed to pack in loads of relaxing and activities!
