Hello. Due to not wanting to go abroad dh and I planning to go away for three nights end of September. We are both massive history buffs and he's never been to Bath so deff want to take him. So thinking one day in Bath and one full day in Bristol zoo. Not sure what else we want to do.

But we can't decide whether to stay in Bath or Bristol. Bristol is cheaper and a bit more to do but bath is so quaint and lovely to walk around.

Oh help

I've stayed in the Apex Hotel in Bath. It's fantastic and would highly recommend. I think if you're quite happy to have a relaxing few days then Bath is a good option but if you're looking to fill your day a bit more then definitely Bristol.

I agree that the Zoo in Bristol won't fill a whole day, but you could combine it with a wander around Clifton which has some pretty nooks and crannies.

I wouldn't bother with the zoo , it's not what it used to be even without COVID. I would stay in Bath , far nicer.

I went to the Roman baths in bath in the evening. That was August so not sure if they do it in September but it was lovely and way quieter than during the day.

The spa also did an evening session (again not sure if that's open)

Also if they are still doing them recommend the mayors walks - they are free 2 hour sightseeing walks by local volunteers.

I live between the two I’d go to Bristol any day Bath is boring

every time I go I just don’t get the fuss

There’s quite a lot still closed in both
Bristol museum is closed as is the suspension bridge visitor centre, ss Great Britain is open but masks are needed in quite a lot of areas

I live in Bath. I recommend staying here, you can visit the Roman Baths but need to book ahead. I recommend the open top boat trip on the river and the Boathouse restaurant, the pubs in general and cafes are good as well.

It's lovely here right now, quite busy but not too much so.

Various Bristol museums are due to reopen in the second and third week of September.

One night in Bath and two in Bristol is a good suggestion.

Unfortunately, most city centres seem to be getting pretty seedy under years of Tory governments.
