Help me find this! So far zero luck after searching for years

I read a book when I was about 9. I can't recall the name and have searched on various sites over the years but cannot find it (I've searched the content).

It was an illustrated kids book. Probably made in the 80's. It had a set of stories which were all different. The main story I remember was about peas that escaped and the only way to stop them taking over the world was for butter and salt to be dropped on them, with a large fork (I think).

Does this ring any bells with anyone?!

Could it be a Supertato story?

@PurplePonderer

Could it be a Supertato story?
Hi @PurplePonderer thanks but I don't think so. It was a short story in a book of illustrations, didn't have a potato in it. But thank you!

Shameful little bump. I've carried out more googling and am absolutely finding nothing :-(

The poddington peas?

wellhelloyou · 17/02/2021 10:32

Ooops @icedaisy I didn't realise there was another post.

Had a look at the images for Poddington Peas and definitely not that.

the book or comic I had read had lot of different stories in it... I can only recall the pea story

Would it be the garden gang stories? Percival Pea and Polly Pomegranate? There were loads in the series.

truetuesdays · 17/02/2021 10:43

What was the style of the illustration??

ThatLibraryMiss · 17/02/2021 11:04

Try asking in What's that book called? on Reddit.

Enid Blyton - the lucky green pea & other stories?

wellhelloyou · 17/02/2021 12:00

@truetuesdays from what I can recall, colour illustrations, fairly 'basic' I would say.. but it was a very long time ago.

Thanks @Chickenwing not that. I want to say perhaps it was a collection of short stories, in a comic or similar ... by different authors.

I didn't realise there was a thread @ThatLibraryMiss thanks
