Cry it out

Danielle1005 · 31/08/2020 00:37

My 4 month old has steadily been sleeping better in a night. Usually 8-4, feed then back off till around 6.30. On a good night 8-5.30 and on a bad 8-3.30. Over the past week ether has slowly reverted back to newborn, waking earlier and now back to every 4 hours! What can I do? Should I try cry it out method?

They're probably having a growth spurt and need the extra milk, just feed as they need and go with it. They're far too young for leaving them to cry.

Your baby is crying for a reason, please don't just ignore them. There's a really common regression in sleep at this point too, it's hard but just follow their lead and it will get better. Agree above, feed them back to sleep

Why not try giving your baby a sleepy feed just before you go to bed? Do not wake them fully, but it may make them skip the 3.30 or so feed, though I think my kids may still have been waking then until about five or six months and they started eating real food.

Four months is a classic sleep regression time. I know it is really hard, but please read up on this rather than teaching your baby there's no point in crying for you.

Pipandmum · 31/08/2020 00:45

I don't believe in letting them cry it out.

4 months is very young, I'd say you've been lucky with sleep. CIO is cruel imo and potentially damaging to your baby. Just ride it out. It is totally normal for a 4 month old not to sleep all night.

Take turns with your partner (if you have one). Nap any time you can. You will get through.

It's the four month sleep regression. CIO is a horrid tool and even worse on a baby so young Angry

CIO is cruel imo

That's because it is cruel.
