Some questions about Moreton in Marsh

We were just looking at the possibility of visiting the Cotswolds for a few days, but as Londoners we don't drive, so we can get to Moreton in Marsh by train, and it's walking distance from Batsford which I'd quite like to visit.

Does anyone know what on earth these roads are just to the East? See attached map. Is it an ex-airport or something? I'm intrigued!

We really need a few days away, so all advice gratefully received. Feel free to tell us if the whole place is going to be way too crowded and everywhere's closed. We could go somewhere else entirely if necessary.

It's the old RAF Moreton in Marsh airfield. So what you can see are the old runways. It's now the Fire Service Training College. In normal times there is a parkrun there.

Moreton is nice, and the walk to Batsford is easy - but go on up the road to Bourton on the Hill which is gorgeous. I don't know if Sezincote is open this year, but its worth a visit if it is. You could get the bus to Broadway as well which is very Cotswold

If I wasn’t the sister of a firefighter (now retired) I’d probably never have heard of the place! It’s interesting to hear about the old place. It’s been part of my awareness for decades. I hope you enjoy your visit, OP.

Most places open, plenty of cafes and restaurants available. It's been pretty crowded the past few days though. Buses to Chipping Campden & Bourton on the Water are available.
