I have 3 children back at school this week.
Year 3, Year 7 and Year 8.

We get home around 4pm.
How does your typical after school/ evenings go please?
Tea, baths, homework, downtime/gaming, reading, showers, bedtimes etc?
The year 7 and year 8 share a bedroom.

Thankyou Smile

Home
Empty bags
Snack & homework
Play (outside at the moment) until 6.
Wash (bath or shower) then tv until
Dinner 630/7
Bed at 8. Read til 830. Lights out.

Mine are 8&10. No gaming on a school night because I'm a nasty mummy!

Thankyou, I think my bedtimes are a bit early.
As I'm constantly told!

I'd expect the Year 7 and Year 8 to sort their own evening routine tbh.

The Year 3 probably needs more structure. Something like - snack and watch TV, play, eat dinner, homework, bath, bed.

DragonmotherKhaleesi · 30/08/2020 20:41

If it was left to my 11 year old he would sit on the Xbox all night! I think most 11 year olds still need guidance/structure do they not? He was only 11 3 weeks ago.

No gaming during the week.

Home at 4. Change out of uniform and snack. Play outside if dry. If wet, maybe telly for a bit.

5.30-6.30 Homework. If no homework set, read or go over notes or read ahead in text book or CGP Work books. Everyone quiet, everyone working.

6.30 Pack school bags and put school bags, PE kit instruments etc by front door. Lay table

7.00 Dinner

7.30ish Music practice / help clear up in kitchen / shower (a sort of carousel!)

8.15 Year 3 in bed reading. Lights out at 8.30

9.00 Years 7 and 8 in rooms - reading, drawing.

9.30ish lights out - maybe a bit later for Year 8, but depends on what the get up time is in morning - if they're up at 6.30, they need to be asleep as near to 9.30 as poss.

4 year old and 10 year old, get home from school and then in the winter they put there pyjamas on (both are in after school club till 4.15) tea for five and then wash up. Kids play on iPads, watch tv, homework read, go outside and then 4 year old goes to bed at 7.30 and 10 year old goes to bed at 9.00. They share a room so eldest pretty much goes straight to sleep.

I work in a school so I finish work at 3.15 and then literally run to the Junior School to pick DS2 up. DS1 is 15 so makes his own way home.
Arrive home at about 3.35pm
Eat snack then quickly get changed for football training (it either starts at 5pm or 6pm depending on which night it is)
Get home from football.
Eat tea
Reading or TT rockstars
Bath and bed by 9.30pm (DS2 is nearly 10)
