Is there any significance to todays date? Fireworks started at midnight and havent stopped

Its also pouring in rain outside so wondered if it was thunder but definitely fireworks its been going a good 10-15 minutes.

The neighbours poor puppy is barking away, so its clearly upset him too, poor thing :(

Weirdly, ive suddenly heard about loads of people doing this for funerals at midnight just this week. Have they all seen it somewhere at once?

They then get the added thrill of getting involved in chavalanches on local facebook groups when people dare criticise it without knowing the details.

Fireworks earlier here too, in Midlands.

It is the Muslim festival of Ashura and when I lived in Morocco there used to be fireworks but I haven’t really heard of it happening here...but might explain it.

We had fireworks about 9pm upset the whole estate because no one was expecting it so we had dogs going mental (who would usually be sedated for bonfire night) my kids went through the roof ive no clue why they happened

Its OK, just seen on neighbourhood facebook page, its an 18th birthday party. Loads of people from all over the town have woken up. Dogs and children awake, some of the neighbours have investigated and gone round to complain and one man said he has lost 2 horses, they bolted out of the field when the fireworks went off :( The FB page are organising a search for them.

One of the people on there has contacted the police about it as the fireworks went on until nearly 1am and now loud music. If I can hear it where I live, I feel sorry for their immediate neighbours. I am all for letting people celebrate but they used commercial fireworks for nearly 40 minutes with no warning to people with pets etc. Plus there is apparently about 40 people partying which is odd in this time of SD.

We heard fireworks last Saturday night. No one seems to know why around here

One of the horses has been spotted galloping down a road, quite a way from the stables, I dont know where the other one is, hopefully he wont get hurt and will be found soon

The fireworks are not related to any Muslim event, there is no Islamic festivals taking place at this time of the year and definitely not for Ashura. Also, there are only two Muslim Eid festivals which have already passed back in May and August.

It was an 18th birthday celebration, found the house as it had woken up half the town judging by the local FB page :)

Fireworks are an absolute bloody menace.
I honestly can't understand how they are still legal.
It is also possible to manufacture silent fireworks. It is not essential that they sound like a flipping bomb going off. There are parts of Italy where only silent fireworks are allowed.

I didnt know you could get silent fireworks, that would be much better, especially for the pets that get so upset by the bangs

A local tourist town has a firework warning page. Hotels, private individuals, event organisers Etc all post on there so arrangements can be in place to reduce the stress of sudden onslaught of ordinance.

Seems like another reason to have restrictions on fireworks. It would be only a few days per year if I set the rules.

If you have an MP who is any good, contact them about the issue.

We've had people settings off fireworks here in my suburb of Dublin.
During the day too.

We had them in Kent last night about 1am. Ddog was not happy.

I wish they would ban them apart from organised displays.

I am on the one for the district and I have just seen a comment that the party family were fined for having a massive party and breaking the rules. Apparently there were so many people at the party they had security on their gate! Seems the fireworks were even more stupid if they were trying to stay under the radar as neighbours reported them and when the police attended there was a massive party in full swing! Its kicking off on there, as someone kept posting the address of the person responsible which was never going to end well.

I have heard from the owner of the horses, he said the horses were restless most of the night after being found, and he had to stay with them at the stables, he has cancelled a show that one was meant to be in today too as the horse is in no state to take part. That could have ended really badly if they had got into a busy road doesnt bare thinking about.
