Headphones whilst I cook, clean, walk to the shops. I find I have to do something whilst I listen.

I absolutely get what you're saying, I have the same issue. I've cancelled my audible subscription now as I was missing too much. I just can't concentrate on anything for long.

I've tried to listen to the latest Hilary Mantel on audible but I've given up. I used to spend about 10 hours a week driving and I'm surprised how much I missed it.

Ironing !

I catch up a lot at night, insomnia. Radio is always on at home while we are doing jobs, cooking, etc.

MondeoFan · 28/08/2020 20:31

I listen to the radio when cooking or cleaning the kitchen, washing up etc .
I have a small digital radio in the kitchen which is ideal

BarbaraofSeville · 28/08/2020 20:32

I listen to my podcasts when walking. I used to spend at least 10 Hours a week driving and listening to podcasts and really missed them when I wasn't driving anywhere but it didn't occur to me to listen even though I was walking daily.

Now I walk for 1 to 2 hours most days and listen then. Also listen a bit when cooking.

Stephenfrylust · 28/08/2020 20:34

If you listened in the car then doing jobs which don't require much thinking is good e.g. most housework, sorting washing, cleaning bathroom etc

It something you can do automatically like crocheting, walking etc

MrsMaglev · 28/08/2020 20:34

I used to listen to a lot of podcasts while commuting/running/out for walks and lost track all the time of what was being said. Don't get a lot of some time since lockdown (3 year old at home from nursery and newborn) and I seem to pay much more attention when I do get the chance to be on my own now!!

I was on my own in the car, unfortunately there's nothing surer that the second I start playing it someone will come into the room and want to start a conversation about some irrelevance.
