Anyone got an oodie?

Hi,

Thinking of getting one for my almost 70 dm. She worries about the cost of heating in the winter and her heating system isn't very efficient.

Does anyone have one? Are they worth the money? Will it help?

Thanks

Placemarking because I kind of want one!

DiscoMoo · 28/08/2020 14:22

Just today I took delivery of a knock off version that I ordered from Amazon. I’ve only tried it on but it’s very warm and thick! I’m small and it swamps me but that is kind of the point.

TheSeedsOfADream · 28/08/2020 14:24

I'm going to get a cheaper Amazon one for DD.
Be warned, I looked on the Oodie website and signed up for a discount voucher and now receive approx 10 emails a day barking at me "have you forgotten something? You looked at this item! Do you want it then or what!"
Very hard sell and very off putting.

Can anyone recommend one? My 9yr old is desperate for one for Christmas

Toodeloo · 25/09/2020 21:39

The whole family has one, from 6 to 30 something. They are amazing - we all live in them 😂 whether they get worn on the couch or used as an extra blanket in the bed. Not great though to wear permanently round the house. Too bulky to do anything in apart from chill.

Smurf123 · 25/09/2020 21:40

Currently wearing mine.. I love it... Though it does often lead to me falling asleep on the sofa after dinner as it's so cosy.. Dh surprised me with one last week

Oldraver · 25/09/2020 21:43

I was thinking if one for DS who is permanently attached to his onesie that is rapidly getting too small

Do you have to scrunch up your legs though as they look a bit short

maverickallthetime · 25/09/2020 21:47

My daughter wants one but they are so expensive that I'd thought about a cheaper version. Thought they'd be good Christmas presents!

Conflictedingrief · 25/09/2020 21:55

We’ve got the cheaper knockoff from Amazon and the Oodie. The Oodie is FAR superior in terms of quality, it is literally like wearing a sheep and I love mine, even though it’s seriously unattractive!! The Amazon one was fine on paper but is coming apart at the seams after two washes, it sheds fluff, and is much much thinner. Use the discount BlackFriday on the Oodie website and get a proper one, you won’t regret it,

Bwlch · 25/09/2020 21:55

What is an oodie?

Conflictedingrief · 25/09/2020 21:57

Also FYI - I’m 5”10 and it comes to my knees, it’s baggy enough that I can curl up entirely inside it or just wear it like a massive hoodie. It’s the best. I’ve got the avocado one, as an added bonus I’m getting WAY more spontaneous cuddles off the children as I’m so snuggly! 🤣

Nospringchickendipper · 25/09/2020 21:57

Getting one as a birthday present. Can't wait Smile

SlopesOff · 25/09/2020 21:57

I have been wearing 2 dressing gowns, a cotton one underneath and a fleece one on top. I think the biggest size you can find would work just as well (and not look as awful).

Bwlch · 25/09/2020 21:57

Never mind. Just googled it.

No!

usernamewastaken · 25/09/2020 21:59

I wear my £18 amazon version most mornings at 6am when logging on to my 'work from home' laptop on my kitchen table, lately it's saving a small fortune in central heating. Buy it.

MissCadoganTate · 25/09/2020 22:01

Want one

Bigyellowsunshine · 25/09/2020 22:02

I have a knock off version I got last winter and I love it. It’s absolutely massive so it’s like wearing a huge blanket and I can tuck my legs up inside it when sat on the sofa. It also has a huge pocket on the front for snacks Smile

funtimefrank · 25/09/2020 22:15

I want one for my birthday next month but it's too expensive so dh is looking for Amazon knock offs. Any recommendations gratefully received.

Houseplanted · 25/09/2020 22:24

DD1 has this one from Amazon, she’s had it a few months and still feel warm and cozy.

rosiethehen · 25/09/2020 22:50

These remind me of the wtf blanket 😆

dudsville · 25/09/2020 22:59

Whoa, that's one wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide article of clothing.

MJMG2015 · 25/09/2020 23:04

No, but I know a dog called Keith that has a unicorn one now. I actually thought it was a typo on the other thread. I'm clearly massively out of touch. Might need to go and gave a look, but if I get any more cosy in my sofa they'll have to crane me out if the house

hippohector · 25/09/2020 23:42

How much did people pay for their knock off versions please?

nutellatoast · 26/09/2020 07:17

Just bought the pack of 4 for £156 as my friend also wanted two. So it worked out as £39 per oodie which I thought was very reasonable given the knock offs are £20-£30. I will be giving them to the kids for Xmas. The only down side is they have a really long delivery time as obviously demand is enormous. So order now if you want them before Xmas.

WhatWouldJKRDo · 26/09/2020 07:25

My kids have a real oodie and a knockoff (gifts, nothing to do with me!)

There is no comparison. The knockoff is a big fleecy jumper. The oodie is like wearing a hug - vastly warmer, softer, more snuggly. “Why turn the heating on” levels.

They’re about £55 with the discount code on the website.
