"be kind"

Anyone else getting a bit fed up of seeing this everywhere? Our local bus company has included it on their posters about safe bus travel during COVID-19. It's just so patronising and I doubt anyone who's an absolute arse will change their mind after seeing this. I also (wrongly probably) feel it just adds to the societal pressure on women to be kind and compliant. I like to think that I am generally quite kind and considerate, but if I want to be a mardy cow that's my choice.

Mother Theresa wasn’t all that and certainly not always kind.

@Roswellconspiracy

I hate those words to be honest.

Be kind no longer means just be nice. And decent amd how human beings really should be towards eachother.

It means override your boundries. It means put yourself in danger or get yourself into difficult situations in order to spare the feelings of those who wouldn't spit on you if you were on fire.

Be kind needs to be switched for a firm NO. Or in some cases F off.

This. All it makes me want to say is Fuck Off.

Brought to us by the type who knocked off millions.

@LividLaughLovely

Men are never asked to be kind. When they are expected to be equally as kind as women, I’ll stop finding it infantilising.
Tu at Sainsnury's have girls and women's tshirts with "be kind" printed on them. None in the men's or boys' sections.
BitOfFun · 28/08/2020 23:00

I see #BeKind and think #FuckOff.

MamaMumMama · 28/08/2020 23:22

Be kind doesn't offend me, however seeing it being used in advertising on the side of a bus is a bit lame.

GarlicMcAtackney · 28/08/2020 23:53

I remember when someone on here commented on a thread ‘what ever happened to be kind, you fucking bastard’ 😂
It’s a pointless catchphrase for thickos, using a woman’s choice to end her life as a way of gobbing off to people on the internet.

Immigrantsong · 28/08/2020 23:59

I have always associated that with unwillingness to hear criticism or have a debate. It's a wishy washy pants phrase.

TheCanyon · 29/08/2020 00:05

Be kind doesn't really engage the brain though does it? It's a bit simplic

#BeMoreEmma. 20 fucking 9. Life just gone. We need more folk like her

Wbeezer · 29/08/2020 00:17

I hate it too.
Better alternatives?
Be firm but fair?
Don't like "Be Strong" much either.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/08/2020 00:36

What I am fed up of is all the Karen Memes.
It seems if a women dare have the audacity to speak out about something or have an different opinion she’s a “Karen” Angry

I like the magdalen berns quote.

"I'd rather be rude than a fucking liar"

Miles better than be kind . And yes always hated be strong too. Just means dont cry when we treat you like utter crap. As if we have somehow failed if one day we snap. Like its our job to take whatever anyone throws at us as the second we do react it proves that the others were right about us all along. That we couldn't take it. That we won't last.

BarkandCheese · 29/08/2020 08:58

My better alternative is #Don’t be deliberately unpleasant.
