How do I use a foot spa to sort out my husbands manky feet?

They are seriously manky. A chronic fungal infection, but also loads of dry skin and poor nails.

I am planning a project on them. Do I start with foot spa and pumice stone. Any special products? All advice welcome.

Thanks

this is my level of quarentine boredom

Treat the fungal infection first.

Then when clear regular use of a microplane, footner peeling socks and a decent foot cream (ideally containing urea and ahas) will help.

Has he seen a Dr about the fungal infection? They could maybe prescribe something stronger than OTC remedies.

I had dry flaky skin on my feet for a while and thought I just needed to moisturise more but turned out to be an infection.

If you can get nail treatments too to strengthen.

Sometimes my husband lets me do face treatments on him. I like to imagine it's because I had brothers growing up.

Sort the fungal infection.
If the nails are not infected, you could look at those.
Moisturiser.

Intensive scrubbing is as likely to spread the fungal infection as to sort it.

I had terrible problems with fungal foot infection. What worked for me was switching as much as possible to wool socks (sheep or merino). I also stopped using normal slippers, which I wear a lot as I am a long-time home worker, as these tend to be lined with manmade fibre. I either go bearfoot or wear wool socks with crocs instead of slippers.

No to the foot spa, yy to dr for the fungalbails & doublebase gel 2 x a day for the hard skin.

If your area won’t allow anti fun gals to be prescribed you can buy topical nail paints at the pharmacy.

My dh has just sorted out his own dry crusty feet using a foot spa. It’s a roller massaging one and his feet look so much better.

fartyface · 28/08/2020 08:42

Thanks for suggestions. He has all the fungal products and paint, but also requires a clean up with dry skin and poorly cut nails.

I would book him into a podiatrist instead!

WitsEnding · 28/08/2020 08:48

I struggled with fungal nail infection and OTC remedies for years, doctor has given me tablets which are finally sorting it.

Pretty sure I picked it up from diabetic XH

Dozer · 28/08/2020 08:49

He should pay a health professional to deal!!

milkjetmum · 28/08/2020 08:50

I part white vinegar + two parts water for a soak will loosen up all the hard/dry skin. I did this to dh over the summer a few times!

fartyface · 28/08/2020 08:53

We have loads of brown vinegar in. Can I use that? He loves to clean the microwave with it...

This. They will have him sorted out in no time.

fartyface · 28/08/2020 09:10

He's been saying he is going to do this for years.... :)

I am done with being scraped up my legs when I am trying to love him in bed.. Grin

I feel quite ill

userxx · 28/08/2020 12:53

Jesus Christ, there would be no love going on in that bed if my shins were being sandpapered.

abigailsnan · 28/08/2020 13:04

Treat the fungal infection asap and soak the feet in doublebase 2 x daily of a night soak again in flexidol and wear a pair of cotton trainer socks over night keep up for a few weeks and you should see a decent result.

JockTamsonsBairns · 28/08/2020 13:18

Is there a reason why your dh can't deal with his own manky feet?

Thelnebriati · 28/08/2020 13:32

I wouldnt let him use my foot spa until the fungal infection has been cleared up; give him a washing up bowl. An old one Envy

AnyFucker · 28/08/2020 13:50

Perhaps he is disabled or doesn't have the use of his arms ?

Whatsnewpussyhat · 28/08/2020 14:03

If he can clean a microwave he can sort his own feet.

Twaddledee · 28/08/2020 14:20

Tea tree oil emulsified in a bit of milk then added to warm water would be a good soak for them

Twaddledee · 28/08/2020 14:21

(This is an anti fungal)

fartyface · 29/08/2020 13:14

Thanks for ll the tips. He does have perfectly good arms but unfortunately he would need to shape up a bit to be able to reach his own toes..
