Hi I am 39 weeks pregnant today with my second baby. I had toothache earlier which has now passed but now I have a severe sore head that won’t shift I’ve taken paracetamol twice in the last 8 hours and it’s not easing it or helping. I seen my midwife yesterday blood pressure was fine so was urine baby’s heartbeat was perfect and he’s still moving away as normal. Anyone else experience this later on in the pregnancy? I never even got to this stage with my first baby as I had my daughter at 37 weeks naturally with no complications. Thanks. X

Please please call the maternity unit. I had severe PE and both my BP and Urine were fine to start with, my only symptom was a severe headache.

Came on here to say pre-eclampsia too. How’s your vision? Are you seeing bright lights in your peripheral vision or anything like that? Best to get it checked out op

Lizabeth24 · 27/08/2020 20:45

Oh really? The midwife asked me yesterday was my feet or ankles swollen and I said yes and she looked and said it looked normal then said my blood pressure is fine so there is nothing to worry about I think I am going to call it’s really sore and nothing is helping. Xx

I had terrible migraines too in one of my pregnancies. But I would go back and get checked again for PE if it isn't budging.

Yellowtulips33 · 27/08/2020 20:49

Does sound concerning, when I had PE at 38 weeks it felt like an axe through my head. I had the vision thing but don’t know if that’s common. Please get it checked, best to be safe

Lizabeth24 · 27/08/2020 20:50

I have been fine right up until today I am tired but my head is really pounding x

Please ring maternity unit... Tonight... Its not worth messing with... Don't leave till tomorrow...
My first main symptom for very high blood pressure was a pounding headache that nothing would touch for day or so, then swelling in feet and aversion to light...
Gushing past my ear with each pulse...

Lizabeth24 · 27/08/2020 20:54

I would rreeaally go and get seen OP. I had only one very mild sign of PE and was taken in. It develops quickly and as you're basically almost at term then it's not worth messing about. Any unusual headache needs to be seen, in pregnancy even more so. Good luck. X

happytoday73 · 28/08/2020 08:07

How are you today? Have you taken your blood pressure? Do you have a bad headache still?

If so.... Ring again... Insist you are seen

Howcanwedoitall · 28/08/2020 08:13

Go to the hospital. Do not be fobbed off.

doctorboo · 28/08/2020 09:36

How are you feeling today @Lizabeth24.
Really a headache shouldn’t stay if you’ve had paracetamol and/or ibuprofen and are properly hydrated, which a couple of pints or water would help with.

I’m one with a mad story: my headache turned out to be a blood clot in my brain - obviously no one even thought of it and it is a freak thing.
The headache started before anything else was flagged up and my BP did slowly rise and I did/had swell up (sometimes it hard to see as our body shape has changed after weeks of being pregnant) but the headache was there before then and Urine was clear. They went in thinking it was probably the start of preeclampsia and obviously it turned out to be something else.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 28/08/2020 14:16

A pounding headache was my first sign of Pre eclampsia I then soon developed epigastric pain( liver) by the time I got to maternity I was a lot worse and induced immediately( I was 39 weeks anyway)
Please go

Hi everyone I phoned Up the hospital that night and they said just keep and eye on it and if I got worse I was to go up. I went to the toilet during the night and my waters had broke it was like a gushing river 😂 anyways I had my son at 11:00am on the 28th September. He was born with esophageal atresia though he’s had emergency surgery and still in hospital but he’s getting there
